If you trade that FB for that vert, I will personnally hunt you down, peel your skin off with a spoon and feed it to scavengers on a dark and cold sunday afternoon.

My 2 cents.

If the "restoration" includes a T2/ RE swap (done right), shocks, springs, sway bars, and bushings then it sounds like a decent trade.

I own an 87 TII with an LT1/ T56 and an 89 S5 vert with a good running rotary.
The vert is a fun car but theres no way I would ever trade my V8 rv7 for one , you will be very disapointed in the power and get bored with it.

but what's more fun? A car restored to stock or a car YOU modified how YOU wanted?

still don't think the V8 is cool in a 7 but damn that's good work. It doesn't matter what motor is in there, what matters is whether or not it's a good trade. It's not just a monetary issue . You have to take the time, effort, parts and final result into consideration. All the work put into that FB will never be worth the work put in the vert in the end.

I have seen them as high as 8K back ~ 2003 and I have seen them drop since. You can find great deals out there but remember there is always that ONE sucker that will pay top dollar for something he knows nothing about. How do you think so many people get rich?? off of stupid people.

Whats funny is that the $750 cost for the automatic transmission option on the window sticker is exactly what I paid for my entire convertible. For some reason it seems like the cleanest, lowest milage Verts that I see on eBay are always automatic. Am I the only one that with everything else being perfect, an automatic transmission would keep me from buying it?

no, you arent the only one... manual transmission in a sports car (or really any car for me) is a must. The only exception would be in an economy car thats offered with a computer-controlled CVT, to get the most out of the tiny motor.

A good FC is worth $4500, according to Kelly Blue Book (kbb.com). $5500 if it's an s5 (1989+), I think. Dunno how much the price changes for a vert.

I found an FD for 9K at a small dealership, went to look at it but then saw it was an auto. Walked away. I know you can swap in a 5 spd. but still passed on it. SO you're not the only one.

I agree auto suck.......unless the car is built and designed for an auto, like a family car or luxury. OR built for the track like mine, my car was originally a 5-speed car and actually still have the pedal in the cabin and the slave cylinder in the firewall incase I ever wanted to convert back but I LOVE the 700R4!!!

Tell him to put a TII in it and then you can talk. Looks to me like an s5. Right? I've had several fb's and that’s one sweet fb. But once the top comes down. "It’s a whole new woOOrld" (singing).lol
