with the exhaust missing and w/ it having that many miles on it, I wouldn't go anywhere near that thing.

But hey, that's just me.

id say go for it man,

i just bought an 88' convertable, and i was pretty sure it had a blown motor when i bought it. $1500, but in great condition and love the rims(not in my avatar, thats a general pic), mazdaspeed lo-pro seats and i have ALWAYS wanted a rotary.

after some diagnosing, (bad coolant seal) its going to cost me another $800 for a motor and the labor swapping it in, but ill still have the old one laying around to rebuild.

anyway, $2300 for my rx7 to get on the road, not inluding towing charges, and taxes n such, plus i have exhaust leaks.

sounds like you're alot better off than me =\ buy it.

English???? Do you speak American English?

If you buy a 20 year old car, regardless of what it is, you will have parts that are worn out and will need to be replaced. So as far as for reliability; it will be determined on how well the previous owners have kept the car.

The gas mileage of a Rotary powered car will be poor when compared to most economy cars. Remember the EPA city rating for a 2nd gen RX-7 is only 17 MPG. The more out of tune because of tweaks or what ever, the lower mileage you will get.

Most people that are against buying a rotary powered car, are clueless about rotary engines, and therefore it scares them to think that they might have to figure something out. Of course once one does figure out how a rotary engine works, you will wonder why anyone would think that it is difficult to understand or work on.

1= yes and no all cars have difficult things to work on. just study up and read stuff and learn and ask questions
2=used parts are cheap but not honda cheap. new mazda parts are expensive. again its not a honda you cant do a full custom car for $1k
3=most of the time yes
4=all depends on how you drive it and mods done my first 88NA got 27 mpg but yours is turbo so it will get less. my current 7 gets like 11mpg but i have no emissions and i drive it really hard
5=maitanence is not hard on any car its just doing oil changes and tune ups at regular intervals and paying attention to what your car is telling you. get the hayens manual it tells you all the intervals and what needs to be done. every time i buy a car i do all the brakes unless they look new. change all fluids spark plugs and wires and filters. it helps the car run good right off the bat and then you know when you need to do the next bit of maintanence.
6=an rx7 is a sports car so yes you can race it even stock there are all sorts of stock cars that get raced. as said above just be careful. i have lost control of my car plenty of times and have yet to crash but that does not mean i was not scared shitless.
have fun though if you treat your car right it will treat you right. if you dont they will get expensive.
