Pull one rotor spark plug, crank the car over - note the PFFFSSSHHHT sound.
Do this to sound it at least 3 times.
Put back the spark plug.
Pull a spark plug from the other rotor.
Repeat above.
Do all the PFFFSSSSHHHHT's all sound the same?

Classic symtoms of switched around spark plug wires.
Trace & reconnect the leading (front) coil pack to leading (bottom) plugs.
Then do the same for the trailing wires.

oh yeah,... im not sure if anyone knows if this could have a friggin thing to do with it but, I went ahead and did a battery relocation to the inside of the car behind the pass seat where the 2+2 seat would go. We re-ran the cable straight to the starter and used a yellow buttend connecter to connect the other wire that goes to the main power distb. area. Could this be the problem of the pinging due to lack of efficent spark?

No engine can run long on zero oil pressure without galling the bearings.
Time to shop for a J-spec?

13/16....
make sure they are all firing, check your timing, check your compression... and did this all happen right after you were too lazy to put more oil in?

Thanks to everyones ideas, but the WINNER IS "SureShot" he suggested that the wires are on the wrong plugs. That was causing a ignition 90degrees crank shaft rotation too soon causing the ping all the way on the opposite side of the housing. Everything is back to normal and nothing seems wrong. Thank God!!

because we did a battery relocation while we were in there. The battery box was dry rotted out. the tape came off one of the wires for the lead coil and they got reversed.....

Did you swap the leading spark plug wires???
If so, that wasn't your problem.
You do know the leadings both fire at the same time, right?

Im pretty sure that the rotors "apex's" are 180 degrees off from each other. Anyone else agree with me on that? and when i switched them the problem was completly gone.

Yeah, you're right - the rotors are 180-degree out of phase.
