pineapple sleeves

You probably wont feel any difference, but there should be some. Its physics, the easier a time the air has getting into the engine, the more efficient the engine becomes, so it doesnt have to do as much work to suck the air in.

no, you dont need to do it when you are rebuilding... but you will have to take the intake manifold off, as they sit inside the engine side housings behind the lower intake manifold

pull off the IM and they pop right out...oh and btw...a reputable forum member has had problems of them. pineapple racing is supposedly going to get info on that problem up on their site. it was concluded however that when the sleeves are put in that a product like loctite green should be used.

"Mothership... I will be rebuilding in a couple months. Will you still be selling them for $35 a pair?"
I have three pair posted for sale on the board so I can't promise anything.

I've been reading posts on these Pineapple Racing sleeves for over a year and I'm confused by one issue. If there is an 8 HP gain with the sleeves, why didn't Mazda do it? Point, S4 to S5 Mazda changes major engine components to gain 14 HP, but overlooks the sleeves? What am I missing?

8 hp seems too high, but I bet that there is a measurable gain from adding them. And they are only $50!!

Rotors still spinning

Mazda seems to have remedied the problem on the Renesis. While it does still utilize rotating sleeves, they are now actuated from the sides rather than from airstream obtrusive rods, and the sleeves are radiused at the ends. This is how they should have designed it 20 years ago!

we all learn from our mistakes... Including Mazda
Just think of what mazda will have in a couple of years... Rotary engine wise.. as long as sales stay up, and funding stays high the rotary engine could very well be the next motor for the masses
-Markus
"I keep telling you guys... The rotary engine is back!"
P.S... As for the pinapple sleeves.. you'll have better Hp gain by just removing the sleeves all together and blocking off the acctuator ports
Yeah the pinapple sleeves are "cute" by design.. but you'll get better results by just removing the system all together.

You loose low end tourqe by removing the sleeves all together. You don't gain anything from taking them out. Its hard enough to drive in traffic already don't make it worse.

I think its a great product, despite the problems they have coming loose. That being said I don't have them myself.

I agree that the shape would be conducive of increased flow and less drag. I am just sceptical until I see some flow numbers. Since you have seen these numbers could you scan them and post them? If not could you direct me to where I can view them?

This is a quote from pd day:
And here is a graph: https://www.rx7club.com/forum/attach...postid=1101867
There are a couple threads about the insert coming loose and falling into the engine making a big mess.

Previously with my:
Cone intake
RB turbo back with custom downpipe
CAI
SAFC
I saw 55.9% as my max afl.
I installed my pineapple sleeves yesterday and I saw [60.3%] AFL.
