i believe this was well written and has a bunch of insite. Here is my decision making factor -
RISK v. REWARD
Concept is great, easy to install, cost is minimal.
Risk - blown engine - possible blown rotors and housings - 2K in new hard parts if opt to go that direction.
Reward - a few ponies
Overall, not a risk I choose to take.

The risk is like, zero, if you install them correctly :O
The way I installed them, I tested it with a small flathead, I couldnt budge the thing.
Plus, with the added protection of the 'ding' in the housing, what in the world else is left to go wrong?

why are you people buying these rediculous things? they are not worth it and are NOT needed. they ADD an obstruction in the sleeve and REDUCE flow. the fluid will form its own best track into the engine. the first fluid (air/ gas mixture) entering will fill in the area in question and the rest of the fluid will ride on top of it. to visualize this use particles of sand in place of the air/fuel mixture.

I ordered them recently, sent my sleeves to them to install..
I was figuring that if they ripped apart my engine after THEY installed them I'd have quite a bit of support for getting a new engine from them... where if I did it myself I'd have nothing.
But from what Kevin is saying maybe they don't have much of a reputation to lose not backing it up anyway... =/
I thought Rob seemed like a very good guy at SS7, he was very smart and common sense approached to things... unfortunate that their business is getting a bad reputation from something they could fix so simply!
And to the guy that thinks these obstruct flow, man... get a brain.. lol.
Why don't you add a few 90* angles to your exhaust pipe, I mean... since all that straight flow is obstructing your exhaust!

^ This is how flame wars start. Please stop being so agressive and confrontational before a mod comes and deletes everything. Remember, the intake air is PULSED, and of a rather high velocity. It is not a constaint flow like water. Also, the ports existing structure requires the air to take an immediate 90 degree angle turn. Smoothing out that turn is all the inserts do, they dont 'get in the way.'
This is not ment as an attack, mearly a suggestion: I'm GUESSING that you havent actually seen the port in real life to be able to determine how the thing is actually shaped, and that might be the cause of the argument. It's a pretty small ramp, and the end acts as a spacer because the sleave goes a little past the port.
xb2002: I _felt_ a difference. It wasnt massive, but it was there. And, if it gave me at least 5HP (working with all my other intake porting and exhaust mods) then $10 per an HP is not something I'd be complaining about.

EDIT: I'd also like to point out that Pineapple HAS dyno'd the results and it IS ~5hp. So before you even TRY to defend your point, realize that you've already been PROVEN WRONG before you even started arguing... which is why you should RESEARCH things before you go making claims just because you stuck your nose in your physics book.

you don't need to take your engine apart to remove the sleeves you just need to remove the intake manifold. you are such a good mechanic you sent your sleeves to them to do. how brave. don't get mad at me because you wasted your money.
i build and port engines for people after i get home from my 9 to 5 job.
i have built more engines that you have neurons.

is he not trying to sell you something? of coourse he is going to say it works. do you really think he is going to say it doesn't work. and if he said it only made 1-2 hp improvement it would not be worth it, so he said 3-5hp. big deal! not worth the risk.
i have given proof with a college text book on fluid dynamics. you have not given me any proof, except an owner rating his own work.
