I had a short list of Mazdatrix, PR and FC3S for my pending rebuild. That just leaves Mazdatrix and the sandiego boys. No way am I going with Pineapple, I'm still having nightmares about piles of scrap endplates and boxes of used seals being put in my engine.

2600 dollars well spent.
i have found the best way to deal with them is to just stop by the shop. after a while of them not calling me back i decided to make a trip for portland. and they got back to me fairly quickly (probly because they didn't have to pay for anything) but when the whole ordeal is finished with, i have a 5 year motor in 100 peices and and RX-7 that might as well be a lawn ordiment, i'd get the same satisfaction from it.

I now have just over 5K on my Pineapple rebuild ... no problems, but never remember being told, that if I didn't use Evans NPG + that my warranty would be void. Where was this stated?

Ya I thought Pineapple was suppose to be awsome and was thinking WHEN my motor goes of having them do a rebuild. I just got a Jspec last year and that has treated me pretty good. Last summer I was running 15-20lbs of boost on it with stock fuel system and intercooler. I could not control the boost after I added the racing beat full exhaust system. Anyway she is still running strong and at $1200 shipped thats tough to beat. I got my motor from Shane at Rotary Works and he guaranteed no issues upon start up. He said he guaranteed no coolant seal issues and a so on. I am happy with that and at those prices I can afford to be a little risky and push the motor a little hard. I could by 3 of those motors for the price of 1 pineapple . Lets say worst case scenario I go through 1 a year I still come out ahead of a bogus 5 yr warranty that is not backed. Plus I have 3 core motors . Shane also does rebuilds anyone ever try him out?

takes 30 mins to completely make up a write up of instructions on pr sleeve installation...and it took them 4 months to do that.....ha, hope you get a better time-it-takes : time-it-took ratio =]

Banned. I got OWNED!!!
I think by reading some of the responses lately, many of you are down a bit too much on PR. I suppose this is because over the last couple of years legend has circulated about them, and most of us (myself included) put them up on a bit of a pedestal. Personally, I consider (note that it is still present tense) PR one of the top 3 engine builders in north america along with judge ito and don marvel.
This just goes to show that anyone, any operation, can have quality control issues, a bad period of time where things just don't go right, or just plain bad luck. Doesnt mean they're all the sudden worthless, as some of you seem to be thinking. Any business will have it, some more than others. How you try to control these occurences and how you respond to them is what I'd consider to define the better businesses.
I still think PR should be one of the first resources in the community to be consulted if you have need for work, if you have the cash of course. If not, come to me
