uhh... metal going inward IIRC... , the metal should touch the bearing... i think

Make sure the bearing is in far enough--I killed a seal because mine was not seated all the way

The lip on a seal is always towards the media that you are sealing. In this case, the lip is towards the bearing, to keep the grease in.

Make sure it's in ALL the way, and that it's in FLAT.
