how much power are you wanted out of your 7 and what are your mods.
IMHO standalone is a way better investment, just cause you can control ignition and many other features.
Piggy back is really only a good deal if you can get one for under a bill, and know how to use it...
it really depends on your needs

Standalone...guaranteed you go piggy back, there is no future for it.
I thought Id be fine witha piggy back...only to spend more money on a Power FC and lose money on the Fcon. Might as well go with the standalone since it has the ability to be used for future mods extreme or not.

Standalones have a lot more wiring to take care of too. It depends on what you want from your car. NA or TII? Mod list? Stock? Need more info. You dont want to buy a haltech for a stock GXL.

well i said i have been using the fmic and i havent had problems yet i was planning to do a custom top mount when i put in the new turbo and injectors and now the STAND ALONE. also running a cryO2 to the top mount. so that i can keep the a/c

The biggest advantages of a standalone are the ability to use a 3 bar MAP sensor and the ability to remove the airflow meter. From what you've posted, You do need one given what you are planning on doing.
But you are asking a LOT out of this car to keep emissions working fully and the A/C. You are going to have cooling problems with a front mount and A/C. Emissions and A/C on a standalone require a lot more wiring and tuning as well.
I think a lot of people fall into the trap of wanting to have their car do everything. You are going to have to make more compromises on an FC to get that kind of power reliably, unless you have a shitload of money, because well-spent money can solve almost any car problem.

In this case I would almost say to use a piggyback like the S-AFC with the standard larger secondaries and fuel pump upgrade. It will be safe around 300HP without any real issues and you still maintain the tune of the stock ECU and you can leave your emissions equipment in tact.

this is what i was thinking to use a e manage though.... but i still dont know why i couldnt use a custom v mount intercooler and still use a/c . i just want my hp to be around 300 or more. and that is easly atainable with little upgrades.
