Pictures of the installed Pacific Sunroof
here are a few pictures of what i did today, turned out pretty nice. the sunroof is great quality and fitment. install was a snap, 6 nuts off, 4 go back on. the old metal cover and the interior's square carpeting get replaced with this, and it came tinted
no complaints! ...for the record, yes the glass sunroof is lighter than the two pieces (combined) that it replaces, but i didn't do it so much for the weight, mainly the look and functionality, and it looks damn good in person as these pictures don't do it justice.

You can find that for under 300 on ebay. I had won one once before then realized i would not like having a clear roof ALL THE TIME, since there is no way to cover it , so i cancelled the item and paid the listing fees.

what the hell, red X's... hang on for a lil while...
edit: yes, you can block the sunlight by putting the carpeted square piece back up temporarily, or one of those pull roll things you see on windshields, they make larger rectangle shaped ones. but what's the point of covering up the light, that's the whole reason why i did this mod. when cruising in the car, it feels so much 'open' now, even when it is closed

Wow, how much did that cost you?
that looks real good installed does anyone know if they make a glass sunroof but opens like the stock one
Did it come w/ the gasket, hardware and interior trim pieces?
I had to try to find my own gasket to work w/ my PG roof and it is not nearly as nice looking. If you have any info on that gasket I would appreciate it. Ian

it came with the hardware, 4 nut type things, its like a nut and a washer combined, the washer spins but its attached to the nuts, the same 6 that are on the oem sunroof. i just used the ones that were on my sunroof as they looked pretty much new. no, didn't come with an interior piece, but there really isnt much to cover up. the far sides of the glass piece are completetly black to cover up the brackets holding it underneath, while the center is just tinted dark. its that type of tint where you can't see **** looking in, but it looks great when looking up through it while sitting in the car, limo tint i think. i can take some better pictures if needed, i took those in a hurry as it was getting dark.
edit: cardomain = teh gay ...pics are back up now on both posts.

Tennis, anyone
i love MOONROOFS !! one of the best things i've done to my 1st gen. it opens up the cars interior, and adds a touch of class. IMO. okay, you did use the oem mounting points correct ? you didn't remove the motor and slides and installed a whole other moonroof ? .i'm interested and as soon as i run across one at the junkyard(s) i'll buy it. i used to see 2ed gens at the junkyards all the time with glass moonroofs, in fact my buddy picked one up cheap and it mounts 4 out of the 6 screws. used the stock(oem) motor and slides just replaced the metal panal for the glass panal. enjoy it.

Did you get your's from E-bay? If not how would we get ahold of one of thoes. I hate the rust prone metal sunroof in our cars.

i am legendary
I've been thinking of doing something like that but letting it be stationary (doesn't move) and then taking out the sunroof motor/crap and dropping all that weight.

It's hard to see in your pictures. Is there anything to cover up the mounting hardware on the inside? If I remember right, without the headliner board the six bolts are exposed. If you could post a better picture of the interior part of the panel, that would be great. I've wanted one of these for a while.
Thanks

wow,,,,,, thats alot of money. the oem moonroofs i'm talking about are $40.00 dollors
for the entire roof and $10.00 dollors core charge. and they have the fabric shade that slides..really . what i'm not sure of is it a mazda (dealer) installed option or something else. if i remember right my buddys glass panal, and my 1st gens glass roof has a acid etch saying "PPG"

I just was watching one on ebay. Sold for
382.00 plus 40.00 shipping.

as for the 1st gens, its so much easier finding a glass panel for them as i think they were mass produced, i see them on ebay all the time. i was actually thinking of buying a cheapy one and making it fit on a 2nd gen, but i dont think it would've worked out.
here's some more pictures...

thats a lot of money there is a shop near me that installs sunroofs for like 330 for a manual one and like under 500 for motorized and thats into a car that had nothing before, i'll be going with the manual one in glass since it won't really wiegh any more than the roof does now
