the part that is taped closed would be on op of the carb.......(i.e. weber type application)
then the other end would be attached to some sort of duct that runs to a cool air source. Please correct if im wrong

What kind of HP gain could you expect out of the 48 IDA's with a racing beat exhaust with collected header?

Power aint everything.
People that've been racing 13b's with IDA carbs since before I was born were getting roughly the same power they are now with EFI style IDA's.
The number of serious racers running carbs are quickly diminishing.

If you mean power out of an IDA/DCOE setup?
well I mean it varies with whats done to the motor really?
With a decent BP you could get 300rwhp with a fair bit of work.
Streetport? probably much more like 200.. with alot of work

I stand to be corrected on that, I havn't seen that many streetports running IDA's. It's usually BPs/PPs.

I would have thought with such short runners and good airflow, that you'd get 200 with a streetport using a 48mm IDA setup for sure. Guess not..

200rwhp is nothing to be sneezed at.
That's a decent ammount of power for an N/A motor.
But then again if you could do a streetport that could flow air at really high RPMS like some BP's then you could get quite a few more HP.

Really depends on way to many variables it doesn't even really bare thinking about.
If your not in a racing class that requires it you'd be mad to stay with a streetport if you wanted to make alot of power N/A.

White, you seem to know your ****. So with carbed setups for NA I spose its all about throttle response then, right?

Not really...

IDA and DCOE setups do typically have good throttle response.
So long as the carb is jetted properly or if its an EFI throttle body the computer has to be tuned right obviously.

I dont think thats what its all about though, they do give better mid-high range power on ported motors, probably not so with stock ports.....

My older 6 port engine. I started to convert it over to a TWM throttle body (51mm) and do a bridged ported aux port and street port pri and secondaries, but parted out the car and went boost. The engine seen here is in another car now that is for sale but with the factory fuel injection installed. It is a heavy street port 88 engine with 89-91 high comp rotors and rotating assembly with MSO2 coated bits internally with 85 psi oil by-pass and light steel fly. Theres a lot more mods to it but I don't recall all at the moment. Car ran like a bat outta hell, but gas mileage was chitty (could of been my right foot), cruise wasent always smooth and running cold SUCKED. Could have all been tuned out, but I got sick of the carb. It was a Racing Beat upper mani bolted to a stock lower with working aux ports and a Dellorto 48mm DHLA side draft.

racerxtreme, your work is beautifull man. That looks amazing, it looks brand ******* new. Everything, even the bolts to the little banjo fittings and lines for the omp add up and make the engine look like it came off an assembly line. Nice work!

Thanks BlaCkPlaGUE, I'm a lil **** when it comes to rebuilding things. I bead blasted nearly 100% of EVERYTHING on or around that engine. Then painted everything. Yeah I even clean each and every stinkin bolt. I even went as far as to dip every harness clamp in red rubber coating. The OMP lines were new. When I build engines I replace everything that has a potentual to crack or if it wont clean up well. When i install my engines i want it to be a "new" car so i only have to worry about the standard maintenance and not have to worry about taking things apart again because i was too cheap to replace a $5.00 hose thats under the intake that had 100k miles on it.

Just wait and see my turbo engine....hehe (hint: Custom turbo manifold, custom upper intake, custom 3.5" exhaust, all custom aluminum intake tubing, everything thats aluminum will be polished, I custom built a Innovative ball bearing center section turbo with a 60-1 compressor, polished T04S .7 A/R comp cover, a extrude honed 1.00 A/R turbine that was custom with a cast in 3.5" V-band all ceramic coated with a GT Q/P trim turbine made out of inconnel ). If I dyno under 435 @1 bar and don't hit full boost by 3500 rpm I will shoot myself.
