Pcm?

I recently got my car checked out at the mazda dealership. i own a 91 na. they told me the pcm was bad and they wanted $2000 to fix. he couldnt tell me if it was the pcm was part of the ecu or part of the actually ignition system becuase he wasnt the mechanic he jsut billed people or watever. i know neither the ecu nor any part of the ignition could cost $2000 cuz thats the price of a new engine. if anyone knows what that is PLEASE let me know.

Well, first off. welcome to the forum. You'll learn alot of useful information here, as well as getting the plesure of hanging out with a bunch of die-hard rotary fans.

Ok, dont go to the dealer, that is the #1 worst place to go when getting any mechanical service done to your rx-7. I'm sorry i had to be the one to tell you. Oh and by the way PCM stands for Powertrain control module. And that's about all i have to say

He probably meant the ECU. He probably does tons more work on Fords etc where they call it a PCM. IF you need one......then advertise on the wanted forum on this forum.

So.....just what is your car doing that is funny?????? that you might want a new ECU????

Tell us what the symptoms of the problem are. It's very unusual to need to replace the entire ECU. It's much more likely to be a sensor problem, but I've heard many people say that Mazda told them to replace the ECU.

Sounds flooded. Search for "unflooding" and you'll get more info than you'll know what to do with...

BTW, Mazda techs don't know ****. Avoid them at all cost.
