Not true, they do exist. Dustin what's the VIN? If its
JM1FC332*G0xxxxxx it's an 86 turbo, if its
JM1FC331*G0xxxxxx its a converted 86 NA.

The build date may be in '86 but it is my understanding that they were not offered until the '87 model year.

Ive heard that there are 86 tII's out there. Very rare though. mine was only about 1 month from being an 86 because it was built in june of 86.

Is the clock on the idiot light cluster blue or amber? If it's amber I'm interested in that part.

That is correct. I had an 86 TII when I was back home in Australia.

Build date has little to do with the model year. My 87 model year TII was built in June 86. Many 93 model year FD's were built as early as 1991.

Its the date code in the VIN that's connected to the model year. A 'G' on an FC makes it an 86, an 'H' will make it an 87.

I understand it has little to do with the model year. I stated that because I think that is the reason some people are making the mistake of thinking it's an 86TII. I sell cars so I do know that the 10th digit in the VIN is the model year. My 87TII's build date is 3/86 but the 10th digit in the VIN is H so it's an 87.
