Part ID Quiz...Help

I have a part left over from a recent rebuild and I need help figuring out what is is and where it goes. I don't have a camera right now so we will have to go off my description (I hope this adds to the challenge and makes it interesting for you)

It is some sort of sensor that mounts through a bolt hole. At the base of it is a washer (where the bolt would mount) that is connected to a small black box about 3/4" by 3/4" by 1/8". From the black box is a wire about 4 inches in lengh that leads to a white plastic connector. The connecter is a single male spade lug with a snapping lock.

The clock is ticking for anyone who thinks they are up to the challenge. If no one can guess it than I will find a camera and post a pic.

Thanks guys for all your help. It's moments like these that a forum can really save you.

That's your duality revometer, it goes in between the two rotor housings. Have fun rebuilding.

Nah jk, good luck figuring out what it is. Pics are a guaranteed help.

I dont know the name, but it supposedly helps the oil pressure guage read more accuratly. Some kind of resister if i'm not mistaken.

Its a capacitor if it is infact the part that connects to the oil pres. gauge, and I don't think its for accuarcy but rather for a smooth sweep so the oil pressure gauge isn't constantly bouncing around.

Did you rebuild a turbo motor? That would be knock sensor then. It has a white snap locking connector and it screws into the center iron housing right below the oil filler tube.

Edit: My bad. That is a capacitor/resistor to smooth the readings from the oil pressure gauge. Mine is mounted to the slave cylinder bolt. It is so you see a nice smooth sweep on the needle inside. There is also one of these near the trailing coil on the strut tower area as well.

Yes, it smooths out the oil pressure signal.

It's a dampening capacitor.
Most people know about the one for the oil pressure sender one, but there's an identical one that's right next to the trailing coil pack.

Thanks guys for your help. I found the mating wire and the capacitor mounted it to the slave cylinder bolt. I think a thread like this really speaks to the knowledge and experience that is available on this forum. Great Job!!!
