Thanks.I bought them already painted, but that paint was worn out so I had to repaint them.Personally I would say paint them, it doesnt take long and I love the results I got.All I used was a pressure washer and some engine degreaser to clean them and then some wheel paint i got at autozone.A few coats of the paint and then a clear coat and ya you can see the results.

Here's a picture of the wheels I painted on my Neon SXT. (Yeah, I know, but I got married last year and my wife thought we needed a family car, so this was the closest thing I could come to safe and dependable)

Thanks! The bad thing about these is noone makes a touchup to match the Solar Yellow yet, so I bought a 5 oz can from Dodge for $15, then took a can of Duplicolor high-heat engine yellow I had laying around and tested them side by side. Under a coat of clear wheel paint, you can't really tell the difference. It took about 2 hours to lay the tape and newspaper though. I also painted the old RX7 phone dials with duplicolor wheel bronze, and it looked better, but still like a 14" wheel with a monster truck tire on it. So far it's been a few months and no problems with the regular paint, so as long as you put clear on it, you should be able to use whatever kind of spraypaint you want, not just wheel paints.

i recognize those wheels!! how ya likin em? they fresh black looks good!!

here's a pic of the verts i replaced the s5 wheels with...engine enamel gold (perfectly matches the gold of my sponsors vynal) went crazy with the masking tape and i use the same newspaper tech as erik...also taped off the middle of the wheel to be different...they're kinda dirty cuz i live on a long dirt/gravel driveway but you get the idea

I'd suspect very careful sanding and masking, then about 15 uber-light coats if he used spraypaint. If they were airbrushed, it's not as bad.

Side tip for using spraypaint, reshake the can every minute or so like it says, and don't spray the can empty. When the propellant gets low, it'll want to spray little wet dots all over your awesome new paint job. Don't get in a hurry either, one nice sag because of a heavy coat will ruin your day.

vert rims

wow, i didn't know so many people painted their stock rims, they all look great. I just got myself some vert rims and i plan on spraying the mesh gloss black and leaving the polished lip. I have yellow and black leather interior and my car is the same yellow so i thought id make the wheels match. You've all gave me good ideas on the masking and which paints to use. I'll try to post pictures when i get them painted and get the tires on.

yep thats my baby

thanx wil87,gtu fan and littlecon

that gold stripe isnt on the side anymore though, in the process of sanding and getting ready for fresh paint, 30mm widebody fenders and a lip (not ready to buy a bodykit yet) and the mirrors are gold to match the wheels...post new pics when its ready in a few weeks

yes they were spraypainted universal gold from kragens which just happens to be identical to my sponsor vynal so i was stoked about that. basically i was just **** with masking tape blocked off the tire with newspaper...i shake the can ever 30 seconds about and to get in the spokes you gotta hit it with quick bursts from a lot of different angle...wait 10 min then do it again. well worth the effort though i love my wheels and get a lot of compliments on em.

no it tucks tires like that stock yea its cut springs for now...cant really justify buying lowering springs and shocks since im gettin coilovers in the near future...especially when my "ghetto-rigged" cut coils ride so great...better than some of the cars with lowering springs i've been in...the secret to making cut coils work is having good shocks...if ur shocks arent up to par you'll know in a hurry

suspension

i wanna go with tokico illuminas with tanabe GF210 springs. as for tires i think im gonna get some federal SS 535s 205/50. Anyone have any experience with those tires? on a seperate note, the lip on one of my rims has what looks like some rust, anyone know what i should use to get it off and how to re-polish it. A couple of the other lips are chipping, i think i might have to take it to a shop to get that fixed.

heres mine...im still ot finished either...masking the lip off is tricky but possible..AND make SURE the paint is WET kinda when you take the tape off...mine chipped and now needs repainted (no big deal) but i like the turn out so far! i used the graphite from duplicolor for rims...

these below are BEFORE the graphite went on and AFTER i used the paint remover...SHINY!
