What does repainting your car have to do with anything? You said something was "tacky" that is an oppinion based descission. You can NOT say that I am wrong and you are right because then your wrong aswell. Try using actual reasons to prove something is rice. Painting things like your wheels and other things that can be cleaned up and be just as well will get associated with ricers.

Digi7ech Its about association. The more you look like a ricer the more you car will be called a ricebox. If you painted your calipers to prevent corrosion then good for you your looking out for your car's well being but what the hell does painting your wheels have to do with anything good for the car? I do not think stripping the paint off of our cars would be ideal because our body's would rust to ****.

Look like a duck act like a duck hell it must be a duck.

Santiago

My wheels are painted black, they look a lot better than the stock dull grey.

don't worry about santiago's rice opinion. he thinks everything's rice. i'm surprised he doesn't think the cold air intake he sells is ricey.

as for the rims, if you want to paint them, paint them. if the paint doesn't hold up, strip it off. it's not like that's hard to do. try searching for posts about it. if they are beat up looking you can clean them up and get them nice and shiney, someone on the forum polished their wheels up real nice. that might be an alternative if you decide not to paint them.

no one gives a ****. youre opinion serves no purpose, no function, nor does it "posses as functional". painting wheels has nothing to do with rice, unless its like glow in the dark paint. just because cleaning them up can be just as well, does not mean ****. painting your car red would be just as good as painting hot pink. after all, it keeps the body from rusting. seriously, its painting wheels black, not adding an aluminum wing or neons.

Your little poll says 3 other people do. You asked for it so I gave it. If you did not want this you should not have posted. Just as I open myself up to criticism because of my harsh take on rice you open yourself up for unwanted posts by making this thread.

If you like it do it, I thoguht about it i think it looks good. Its not rice at all, buying some cheap *** rims is more rice than painting the stock ones. Just because its a low cost alternative doesn't make it rice. And since when are painted calipers rice? I painted mine and they look alot better than they did stock, salt air kills aluminum finish's and rusts the steel calipers way to fast. Its your car paint what you want to

There are alot of things on a car that are not needed to drive, but that doesnt reder them pointless. How about washing your car?? That serves no purpose, it just makes your car look better right? Is that RICE because it makes your car look better?

He's painting them black.... Not hot pink. If you like them go for it. Its not like hes putting on spinning hubcaps or strobelights. Point is if it doesnt look tacky nobody is going to crap on ya.

there outta be a serperate forum for ppl who want to keep 7's completely stock, then those 5 ppl can bitch about ricey this and ricey that and leave the rest of us alone, painting shitty stock wheels was a big improvement on my car, changed the look of it totally, and yes i did try to polish them up but the center part of the phonedial justed turned a dull grey. they look a lot better now...and maybe over the summer i will buy some real rims when i can afford it...do what makes you happy for your own car and dont **** and moan about others ...just my $.02

Cleaning your car is part of maintenance. If you do not keep up with cleaning it the paint will fall apart and that will create rust which is bad for the body. Take everything and analyze it intelligently and you will find what is and is not rice. I did not say it was rice but **** like that gets done by 90% of riceboys so why would you spend time and money to look like them? Go out and buy some nice wheels or clean up your own don't ghetto your car out. And if something serves no purpose to drive that does not make it wortheless or rice. Seatbelts are not needed to drive but your life depends on them so they stay. On the otherhand paint on your wheels does nothing but make your car look tacky and you can't say that is not true. Not only is it distastefull it is evidence that you are willing to try and make your car look better in half assed ways like buying two wheels because that is all you can afford. But there is nothing wrong with that right because they still look good right? My views are not blind they are cautious about what our actions can lead to.

Well now LED's have nothing to do with rice by common defenition. Here that defenition is: anything that is made to look fast but is not fast or actually slows you down. All of you can not even follow your own defenition and make particular exceptions to the rules and what not. Be firm and not fools that change their mind in certain cases or with certain circumstances. Tacky is oppinion based can't you understand? If your going to judge be clear and prepared for explinations on why something is rice. What if I like to paint my wheels pink? it is not tacky to ME so it is ok? I don't thinkso. Anything that makes you look like the ghetto ***** running around with fake cars and being posers is Rice learn to analyze and divide.

i think the stock color is wicked. as i can see in your pic they look pertty dirt/stained. as did mine. but at work we have this stuff called wheel acid. and its amazing. like ****. my wheels came out brand ****** new. so if you have not curbed you rims or any other dmg like that. then just clean them up. i am sure there is other stuff out there. but the stuff we use is called wheel acid.

i say, dont listen to santiago. He is waaaaay too picky on the rice aspect, i think its cause he got beat by a civic or something. Its ridiculous. I thought he was supposed to be leaving the forum? But paint the rims, they look way better than the faded silverish colour that they are. Black with a polished lip will make them look good, even the phone dialers look pretty good painted like that.

The only car i've lost to is a domestic and it was not riced out.(when I still raced illegaly) I came back to the forum when I totaled my car before then I was just completing my parts sales but now I am looking into another N/a and finishing my TII. And both will NOT be riced out. Stealth is the best way to hunt its much more fun that way.

I painted the supra wheels on my AE86. I don't like the way they look in silver. so, I guess I'm a ricer. all the honda boys with moster alluminum wings must think I want to be like them.

my god, its not like he's spending hundreds of dollars to slightly change the appearance of his car. its like painting the side molding on the car. lots of S4 owners do it, because it looks better. they're not being ricers, and trying to make their car bling bling by doing that.

I just don't understand

Trying to achieve what you do not have by half assing it is being a poser. Just like civic owner A buys an "FMIC" intake kit to make his car look like a turbo model is being a ricer making your car look like an S5 is being a ricer. Come to terms with what you have and deal with it.

so you think any aftermarket body modifications would be rice, no problem, you can think what you like. You can make changes without being rice, yes I agree posers should be put to death, but earlier you said something about a sleeper, only people who I know that swear buy sleepers are the ones who can't afford to upgrade anythign else after they get the engine done

Untill I see anything good in paper about anything exterior that reduces drag and what not I do no think that exterior mods are needed therefore why should I spend money on **** that won't do anything? And the only people I know around here with body kits and what not can't afford any "go fast" mods when they are done with cosmetics. This leads me to divide the car world into two camps and one smaller camp that is uncommon. The two large camps are those who are poor which we most fall into. One chooses to look cool and do cosmetics, the other chooses to be fast and have a great car performance wise. The smallest group is the one that has the money to do both and do it right. I choose to be the second group that chooses to go fast and have fun. Who cares if your car is not cool when you can have fun with it?

nice way to put it, I agree for the most part, just wishing I was one of those who fit into the small group of endless funds and spare time, but you can't classify anyone who makes a mod not performance releated as a ricer, in some way or another everyone has at one point made a change to improve the "look" of their car, it's human nature to be vain. but there's some pretty rice cars out there that deserve the title.
