if you want em black, buy rims that come that way. He's right about painting them being kinda rice. Rice starts out innocent, like just painting your rims black, next thing you know your interior is wall to wall peel-and-stick carbon fiber, then it's off to ricers anonymous.

I just like what you called them Balogna slicers! I will remember that one.
I was thinking of painting my beat up OZ's but I will cross that bridge when I come to it.

Stupidity like the arguments brought forth in this thread is why I miss this Forum less and less.
Its excruciating sometimes how a once technical forum has turned into such a useless discussion of trivial matters.
Oh no, I painted my calipers. Guess I'm a ricer.
Let him paint his rims. Looks decent enough in the photshop he did.

I agree that if you do the job half-assed it'll look like some crappy ricer job. Might look ok if you polish the lip and do your prep right so you've got a professional finish. Personally, I was pretty underwhelmed with my stock wheels. (Too much tire flex and scrubbing in the corners) I don't think I'd spend any time trying to make them look better, (save for some really light 16s or 17s) but in the end, it's your car.

There is a big difference between a photoshoped image and a real paint job. It does not look great for long. I have seen plenty of good paint jobs on wheels around here and within months they start to chip and look like crap. Our car's are already jap imports do you need to make them look worse by doing ghetto things like that? The more things start to be "ok" and look "great" the worse our cars are looking. I've started to see riced our cars on all these forums and making things "ok" is not helping our image to the rest of the performance car world.

painted doesnt look too bad but could be concidered rice...i think cleaned and polished wheels would look better. its funny b/c at the porsche event i went to a few weeks ago i couldnt help but wonder if some of the racing porsche's with painted 993 turbo wheels was concidered rice. then again those wheels are what like 800 a piece for knock offs?

BBS "vert" rims... Mmmm
Center "web" portion painted a slightly darker (gunmetal) grey, with a nice 1" factory polished lip. Simple, effective, well put.
Unfourtunatly the Stock GXL wheels are just too ugly to do anything with. But i suppose, it's your car and it wouldnt look too horrific.
good luck.

Paint them black if you want them black. WHEEL COLOR HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH RICE, ESPECIALLY BLACK!!! Good God. He's not putting LED lights on his valve stems or on his washer sprayes. He wants to paint his wheels black.

If it was your way then the cars would probably be bare metal because painting is "Rice".
I painted my Calipers with Cailper paint because they were starting to corrode and the paint helps as a deterrant. I just picked red for the color because it went well with the car.
Here is a pic of my old 88 SE with painted phone dials.
It looks like they were done right because they have a nice glossy finish t them with the silver lip.
