questions, questions
Is it base clear? If so how many coats of clear? Looks like your first pictures were the base coat followed by pics with the clear.
How much paint did it take?
Tell me the details...

Ah man you painted it right in the garage.
Did you get one of the paint systems that won't kill you if you inhale?
I'm assuming now that the base cote is on you'll be wet sanding any imperfections off and then applying the final clearcoat?
That's great you didn't have to take it to maaco or an expensive paint shop. I'd love to do this but I don't have all the "be safe" stuff like enclosed paintshop, fresh air mask & air supply, etc..
Would love to know what type of paint you used, your pre work (rust, sanding, body filler, etc).
Now what about the engine bay, did you paint that as well?

ok thanks for all the compliments.
to answer some of you questions,
it is Blaze red,,and it is base clear i use PPG's Omni line. oh and the car used to be a really ugly tan-goldish,,well what ever the correct color name for it,,it sucked
i do wear a paint mask, and i have a big fan exhausting fumes to the outside and i have all entrances from the garage to the house sealed up(doors, vents, attic entrance.)
oh and i have already done all the door jams and such weeks ago and did the engine bay a couple months ago when i had the engine out,,,this car has been a real project and taken lots of my time,,it better be worth it.
as far as the paint procedure,,i primered it then sanded the primer to remove scratched left over from bondo work or the idiots who ruined the car before i got there.
then i put the base coat on this morning 4-5 coats=about 1 gallon of paint. gave it about 2hrs dry time and then put on the clear 3coats. then i will give it about 2 days to cure and then i will sand out imperfections and then buff to an awsome shine.
i think that answers most everything unless i forgot one.
thanks for the comments

I have mine in primer now ready to paint. Hope it turns out as well as yours. Did you paint the side mouldings as well or are they still covered with masking tape? I am still trying to decide what to do with mine. What do you guys think leave them black or paint em red ??

well the one i have is one of the higher grade guns,,the best guns are SATA, and Accuspray i payed $300 for mine but some of the more high priced ones can run up to $500.
i wouldn't spend any less than $125 and even those guns kinda suck,,,but skill is another big thing,,i could lay down some nice **** with even some of my crappier guns in the past.
as far as paint you need to go to a automotive paint supplier. I use PPG's Omni line(the cheapest PPG makes.
1.25 gallons of Blaze Red(code SQ) ran me right at a little over $100. then the clear coat cost $50 per gallon and it cost $60 for the clearcoat activator. i would say misc. supplies ,sand paper, scotch brites, primer, laquer thinner, ect. right at $250 maybe more.
so it ain't cheap but that is pretty budgeted from what some charge.
macco may be able to do it cheaper but they don't use PPG paint, and they buy everything in the most massive quantities possible.
