Outside window molding

Anyone know what to do about rusting on the outside window molding? I'm refering to the black border.

you mean the weather stripping at the bottom of the window? or the one that goes around everything?

someone told me that they knew somewhere that sold the weatherstripping for like 30 bucks or something like that....

yea mine are starting to have some signs of brownness and yellowness. Not sure if it was due to age, weather, or maybe it was waxed.

you can buy new ones from the dealer for $25 a pop. Well worth the price IMO, they look badassed, and seem to have an updated design with better construction than the stockers.

As far as I know, yes that's a regular Mazda price. A friend in my car club got a pair for his 90 TII.

As per installing them, all you have to do is take off the mirror (3 screws behind interior plate) pull the old ones off, press the new ones on, and reinstall the mirrors.

I pulled em off, trimmed off the thick peeling black stuff but careful to keep the rubber edge that goes against the door paint. then sanded well, primed, and painted with Rustoleum metallic black.

I bought some new ones from Mazdatrix, but I have not had any luck removing the old ones, they seem like you could attach a hoist to them to pull the car with.

Mazdatrix wants 84 for both, or 42 for either side, where are you guys seeing these lower prices?

I did that also. (except for the primer)
To remove it, just pull straight up on the aft end.
If they are stuck, grip it with pliers in one hand & bump up on your wrist with the other hand.

Thanks Sureshot, I will give your method a try, although it does concern me that after a weekend of drinking in Indy, driving back to Mississippi that I could fall asleep and need an alternate way to have my car pulled out of a ditch.
