Arrow Optima Red-top battery - With stock igniter packs?

I recently bought an Optima Red-top battery for my FC. I have stock igniter packs. After having the key turned to check lights and such, the trailing igniter pack started to smoke. I was curious if the amperage of the battery was too high? I didn't even crank it over though...

Im curious as to if you connected the terminals backwards. I wanted a red top, but since no one around here has the redtop with the right terminal orientation(positive where my neg would be and vise-versa) I went with a standard 850cca one from advanced.

I'm with this Guy..Negative Wire has a STRIPE on it...Do yourself a Favor,Get Some RED Tape..and Wrap it around your Positive Lead on the car...No matter if you are A Freakin Mechanic with 20 years under your belt or a Newb, this Has Been Done BEFORE!.Oh make sure that battery Is SECURE,as the darn thing weighs about 30-40 Pounds, and IF it decides to Break loose,it will Screw up your Fan,and anything else in it's way..Look into Battery Relocation,to get all that Weight Off the front Driver's side of your car..(combined with the Windshield washer fluid,it is almost 50 pounds of Dead weight on the Front Left of the Car).
