Opinions on Greddy Emanage?

hi.

i'm looking to go with some sort of piggy back ECU to help fuel control with the setup i'm installing in a few days. the setup consists of the basic bolt ons with custom FMIC system, 720cc injectors, walbro 255, t04e .57 trim compressor wheel/housings, and Rtek v1.8. I don't really want to use the Rtek 2.1 because of the palm pilot issue and i'm looking for apexi SAFC NEOs but they seem to be a little over priced. Where as the Greddy Emanage blues are going for cheap on ebay and other forums.

let me know what you think from ether playing with these or your personal experience from owning/dealing day to day with them. Or if there may be any other better value/dollar piggys out on the market.

Thanks!

I forgot i was also planning on tuning it with my laptop rather then just try to get it "close enough" with the analog controls on the emanage its self.

Thanks!

you can use a laptop with rtek 2.1?? i like the rtek7 but the emanage seems to have everything it has and is upgradeable to aux injector control; That is one of the sellers for me and they are fairly cheap. I'm trying to get an opinion on the software and user interface on how user friendly it is or isn't.

yep!! Null cable via serial port or usb to serial adapter. Then run a palm simulator or emulator on the laptop. There is a thread about it in the rtek section.

I never had any luck with the Greddy. A real PITA. THen I went with the RTEK 2.1 and it was great.

I have used them on 3000GT and Rx-8 applications. While it does have more functionality than a more basic piggyback, the software is dated and clunky and the set up is a lot more complicated than installing something like an SAFC.

For example, on the Greddy all you can do is make ignition timing correction maps: the ECU calculates the timing and then the Greddy intercepts the signal and changes. So there is a lot of guesswork involved.
