Operating Temperature...

What is the normal operating temperature range for an 88 NA? And what temperature is considered "HOT?" I need some numbers please. Thanks.

Normal temps would be 180 degrees F on the low side and no more than 220 for extremely hot conditions. The first place to look for a hot running engine are the cores of the oil cooler, radiator and A/C condensor. These will plug up with bugs and other road debris and reduce the airflow through them.

wow, 180? i checked my motor with a temp meter and it displayed around 150. this is not normal, is it? my temp gauge needle always sit above 3/4. i know, i was once told that there is something wrong with my gauge. but i wanted to be sure that it is really my guage not my actual temp.

My 87 ran 2/3 to 3/4 all the time. It warmed up quickly and stayed there. The time I blew the heater hose, it went to 7/8.
