okay, exhaust flanges, gaskets stuff like that

okay, it's been a while now since i've had my race pipe installed and i keep on blowin gaskets. I'm pretty sure i have a warped exhaust flange coming off the manifold. But i made this big *** exhaust gasket, It consists of 2 normal gaskets gooped together with high temp copper silicon... its been on for 4 days. I put the pedal down today, and i heard like a ..PSHSHSHHHSHSHS everytime i hit the gas. So the gasket is blown again. Anyone have any suggestions? maybe 1 gasket with silicon?

thanks. Evan!

The same thing happens exatley to me on my car!. I also have a Bonez Race pipe.
I have blown over 4 gaskets so far!.. Just recently I warped my flange and had to re-weld a new stainless steel flagne onto it. And today after Auto X my gasket is burnt out again. ! Which causes a great drop in the low end.

i have changed gaskets on my dual exhaust 4 times now. I started using what Canadian Tire calls their high temperature exhaust gaskets, it looks a little different, costs like 3 dollars each, usually get a summer out of a pair, the ones i have on now have lasted two summers, but will replace when hibernating for the winter

thats cool....I'm going to get a normal one. And then i will put copper silicon on it. I will check out those from canadian tire. I guess i will have to get the manifold shaved off, to get rid of the warped flange.

First off, never use RTV on exhaust gaskets - that's probably half the reason you're blowing them out. Two flat surfaces with a quality gasket in between and you're golden.

The RTV makes the "weak link" if you coat an exhaust gasket with it - NEVER use any sort of coating on exhaust gaskets.

the guy that put my header on used some special drag race high temp goo for a gasket. I've had that setup for 1.5 years with no problems. I don't knowwhat it was but it was rated to like 1600+degrees
