Ok Tell me how bad i've Fed up this port!

Yeah this port is seriously Fed i think. If you look at the second link this is what i had to work with, as you can see the port was already sorry when i got it, too far to the right i think.
This is what ive done, too far in the oil seal i *think*

This is what it was when i opened the motor to begin with.

This is another one that shows a better angle of the corner seal track and the oil seal.

What do you guys think? I think im going to go to the J yard and get another motor to try and start over with, hehehehe all in good fun. Thanks again.

For fun check this one out

I took the diffusers out of the exhaust, and im going to port them some as well. This motor is N/A, i wish i had a nice turbo to strap onto it. I'll probably run some nitrous to this motor, sell the car, buy a TII, and start over, heh heh. Gotta love the sickness.

What do you think about the oil seals and the cornerseal clearances? I think they are a bit touchy especially for the oil.

You took the diffusers out? Bad idea, on the NA engines they run like horrible without that diffuser. Most people that do porting for NA engines will change to the turbo housings because they can't port the NA exhaust. But again, you're not going to find out until you put it together and fire it up.

I think you went in a little too much on the oil seal track.
You'll find out when you first start the engine.

Has anyone swapped out the sleeves?
When we tried it, the sleeves were not the same size!

Damn very nice. Well so... well... f*ck. I guess i should just start over then. How do you know how far to go, what i mean is how far to the right do you know how to go. I dont mean the oil seal track but the timing of the closing. Another thing how can you tell when the compression stroke starts. thanks.

Well worse case is if the motor runs like **** ill just put the diffusers back in with some JB Weld or use the manifold to hold them in. Unless someone can tell me for sure that porting the motor and leaving the sleeve out is going to run like hell then ill try to do something about it. I will say those diffusers are no f ucking joke to try to grind through.

What series engine are the Turbo II sleeves from? I had no problem when I put a S5 Turbo II sleeves into S5 NA rotor housings. They were the same size.

I've never tried this with S4 TII/NA housings.

Very interesting, I've heard the same with S5 (which led me to beleive that i could put TII sleeves in N/A housings). Thanks.

Please don't use JB weld. *smacks hand* Not in the exhaust!

Another option is to weld the NA exhaust sleeve. If you look in the picture of the ground NA diffuser, you'll see that you only need a small piece to fill the hole. The diffuser is made out of a high grade stainless steel. (I forget the number) Any competent welding shop should be able to fabricate a piece to fit and TIG weld it in. I have done this in the past with very favorable results.

Update

Ok guys these are the housings off the motor that i blew a coolant seal in. This motor ran "OK", had a hard time starting at first and things like that, but it eventually ran very well, very good up top, but a little bad on the bottom end, not too bad though, streetable. Id rather go back to the 5/6 ports being seperate after having this motor, but I'm on a budget and this is what i have to work with. One idea I had was to fab up or maybe buy a Euro 5/6 port butterfly manifold, or the like, and use this 4 port motor. The thing with this is im not sure if it would just be soffocating the motor, or if it would accually increase velocity and increase tq. This is more or less what im asking you guys about these ports. My other opton is to get another core from the J yard and just trash all this stuff, or try to build a race motor and sell it, ect ect. Give me your opintions/criticism please.

Four Port Irons (N/A Ported out)

Close-up of Front Iron

Close-Up of Rear Iron

This next photo is the ONLY "good" intermediate iron I have. Notice how far over the bevel goes into the oil seal and how far over to the right it is. I think this is too far on both boundries, ALTHOUGH this motor ran great, didnt smoke, until it was starved for oil (the pick up passage screen was blocked, unrelated to port).

Intermediate Housing

Thanks again guys, you've all been a great help.

Charles

Hey Reted, do you know what was done to that N/A diffuser in your picture to grind down the diffusers? I tried today and everything i wanted to throw at it seemed to take forever to get them out. Next stop is a torch.

Anyone check out the new pics?

thanks
Charles

The N/A exhaust sleeves have a spacer to take up the slack between it and the TII sleeves.

Higgi- How hard do you think it would be to either ship one of those euro manifolds here or to make a replica? Seeing as you have delt with them I figured you would know better than most people on here. Thanks

LOL... Smartass How much do you think shipping would be? (I think we've gone over this before?). Anyways do you think that even you guys style manifold would do any good on that four port motor?

Thanks
