they're not so bad. Don't even have to get under the car like an FD.

I don't know what you're talking about. Mine are as easy to get to as anything else!
Not quite my best pic of the area, but you can see plainly they are quite easy to get to!

He's turbo from the sounds of it. So it's a little more crowded.

If the alt is Bad it will usually show some very shitty low voltage on the meter. If you have a stereo it will cut out first then headlights dim then barely drive and finally die.

I know from experience on both of my FC's(once per car)

I'd check fuel since it turns over then sputters out.
After that maybe vacuum lines.

If it will turn over then it atleast has fuel in the immediate lines but maybe the pump is struggling to keep pressure up.

if it is flooded, pressing the gas while starting just makes it worse.

Make sure the afm is plugged in and all the intercooler pipes are tight.

Pull the ignition fuse before you do that compression test. You don't want a stray spark igniting the mixture blowing out the sparkplug holes!

ok made some progress tonight..

we pulled all 4 plugs.. but the compression tester we had, we couldnt remove the check valve.. so we just felt for it.. there was 3 strong even pulses from each hole.. so i think the motor itself is fine.

checked for spark, all 4 plugs are sparking.

pulled the line going to the fuel rail.. went to start the car, and it was spitting fuel everywhere like it's supposed to.

pulled the intercooler and sprayed some gas into the intake when trying to start, and sure enough, it kept running as fast as my dad could spray the gas in.

so i guess that means my injectors arent firing, the wiring that comes off all the injectors and goes back to what i think is the resistor pack is really pinched down in some places, and in one place the big plastic shielding had melted away, but the wires were pulled down so tight we couldnt even turn them over to see if the insulation had melted away, and would cause a short or anything.

so right now thats the main concern, im going to try to pull the uim tomarrow and then take the meter to it and check to see if the wirings ok.

well we pulled the uim, and after coolant spilled everywhere it turns out one of my primary injectors wasnt plugged in, and only one of my secondaries had the little metal clip to hold the connector on.. so now i need the 3 metal clips..

mazda dealers around me have not been able to help me in finding this clip.. anyone have any idea where i could get them?

heh only 2 of my injector clips have that metal piece, electrical tape does wonders, it really sounds like its flooding to me, remove the egi fuse and crank it over for 10-15 sec 2 or 3 times waiting 10 sec in between so you don't overheat your starter.

If its not flooded check the timing while cranking the engine you should be able to see the timing mark on the main pully before stock timing pionter.

also make sure you used the right Impedence Injectors in your rebuild....

just some thing to check

You can buy fuel injector clips at auto parts stores. I doubt youll find the metal pins seperate from them.
