Had a similar situation recently. Ended up buying a low-mileage S5 Turbo and then selling my S5 NA for $4,500.00, which nearly paid for the Turbo. Of course, I have sunk a good bit of $$$ into the Turbo since then, but it is now almost ready for the HPDE season and it runs like a champ.

I think i have decicded to let the people decide for me. lol
I am going to list it fo $3500 and just not come down. Soemone wants it, then i sell it, no one wants it for that price, then i keep it and bolt on a turbo.
A whole lot easier then trying to decide on my own.
Plus if i only got $3000 for it it would almost not be worth selling it as i would still be short getting the MR2 engine rebuilt.
Then keep my eyes out for a nice Turbo. I saw a TII 10th AE a few months back witha blown engine for $1500, i am still kicking myself for not getting it, it was MINT too. i will just hope for another one.

I will either have to park my truck on the street (already been broken into once) or i will just have the sell the MR2 as it sits.
Or most likely i will do a basic, cheap rebuild. Just the must do's, bore, pistons/rings, machine anything that needs it and put it back together.

You could buy a car cover for the Mr2 a cheap autozone one, like 60 bucks and they are actually good quality had mine for about 2 years and a lock cable to go under it, that's what I did for my 7 when I didn't have a place to store it for a few months.

Now my truck is my DD due to it being; Faster, newer, safer, more comfortable, getting better MPG, able to haul more stuff, able to smoke any honda it see's.
Now there is really no point to driving the RX7 other then just for for fun since the truck does everything but take corners better. and i don't drive enough to really get the insurance payment out of the car if i just drive it for fun here and there (though i will admit it is more fun to drive then my truck).
I have it listed for $3500, if someone wants it then great, i was supposed to sell it. If no one wants it then i was meant ot keep it. I am taking the easy way out. Plyus this will give me enough $$$ to get my engine rebuilt right in the MR2 with no waiting.
Though i am woundering why neither of my for sale threads for either car have shown up in the classifieds here yet, i was sure to follow all the rule but 4 days later, nothing?

People who price these cars based on year/model and not on condition don't understand what value is based on. Try listing it on Autotrader.com with lots of high-quality pics. I've sold two cars this year that I listed there. And remember, it's easier to start at a higher price (but reasonable) and then come down on price for a quick sale, but you cannot increase the price from your asking price. Buyers are looking for a "deal" and will tend to go for a reduced-price deal over a firm, fixed price. It's human nature. I have a friend who will buy just about anything if he gets it at a reduced price.

With these cars, condition will dictate the asking price. Check out the car I sold for $4,500.00:

I have reached that point with this car. The problem is that when i do things, i do them right. So to have it painted right would run me well over $1000. I won't have that much $$$$ to put into this car for a LONG time.
I actually have another bumper i could put on it right now but it would not match so i figure it looks better with a matching but slightly dented bumper then a non-matching but perfect bumper.
Plus it looks worse in the pictures. In person if you are more then 10 feet away the paint job looks almost perfect. at dusk the paint almost glows, it is a real neat color i have fallen in love with to a degree.
If it doesn't sell for what i want though i do plan to finish it up at some point. I have had a lot of intrest in it just no one with the cash yet.
Where do ya'll list your cars that work well? RX7Club doesn't like me or something i have tried listing 3 threads in the BST section but none of them are posted, i followed all the rules, so i have no idea why. It is already on craigslist and ebay. Any other good sites for free/cheap?

I do have a kid that talked to me that is looking for a first car that is interested. From the way i hear it he wants the car bad but is having trouble conviencing his dad that it is the right car for him.
He started out asking the questions i would expect from a kid looking for his first car, how fast is it, how much power, things like that, then he suddely changed to, how many miles?, does it run?
Who knows but this looks like the most promising guy so far if he can get the go ahead. I keep trying to get him to come look at the car, i know once he sees it, it is like someone holding a puppy they are not sure about, he will jsut have to take it home..lol

LOL true.
It is for sale on ebay and craigslist. Anyone got any other good sites? plan on putting it on autotrader if it doesn't sell by the end of the month.
Most promising buyer so far is that kid that wants a first car. He is trying to get his dad to come look at it. I can tell the kid would buy it for sure if his dad gives him the OK.
So heres hoping, I upped the price to $4000 before he saw the ad too so i might even get more then i wanted at first. but i will come down to $3500 to sell it if i have to. Either way he is getting a deal when you add all the time and $$$$ i have put into the car that he won't have to. All it needs is tires and it is good to go for some time.
I did just call the place that will rebuild my MR2 engine if this sales and got a semi-final price (mius the nickel and dime stuff that is always extra) at right at $3500 - $4000. So this should work out good for everyone.
But i also took it for a drive today and lets just say it didn't make selling it any easier.

LOL, i had a question i never thought i would get from this kid that wants the car.
He sends me this e-mail:
"there's nothing really wrong with the car right? I was just curious since your asking for such a low price on it, when it looks really good for being such an old car."
He thinks i am trying to scam him with a lemon due to a "low-price". Wounder why he thinks it is a low price?
though looking around the price is a lot more fair then i first thought, i have seena lot of RX7's for $3000-$4000.
Considering the condition of the car and all the parts and time and $$$ i have put into it $4000 seems quite fair, i don't know that i would go below $3750 now, i need all the $$$ i can get.
