OK GUYS--Really need some help

I have an 88 N/A I'M getting back on the road after a 3 year hiatus.

I went through the tranny (5 spd) way back when and it works fine---here's the problem.

I sealed the cases back together with this sealant called Hylomar. I'm running NEO synthetic gear oil in it, and well after some years, the Hylomar gave up the ghost.

I know I need to pull the tranny, and pull it apart to make the proper repairs, but I'd really like some recommendations for a GREAT sealer that isn't going to do this again.

My first thoughts were to use Permatex non-hardening, or a high temp silicone, then a guy at work (racer) suggested some stuff called yamabond--or some other stuff used by Kawasaki to seal up the cases on their engines.

Now I'm not really sure which direction to go. I'm hoping to pull the tranny this weekend.

Any help you can suggest is greatly appreciated

Thanks,

Ted

Yamabond is the best sealer. I use it on my race car and it holds up with no leaks. I use all synthetic lubricants with no problem.

Thanks Don,

Sounds like Yamabond is the way to go. I'll stop by the bike shop and pick up a tube
