Oil PSI and Engine Temp gauges not working- HELP
1987 TII. Rebuild motor and installed Haltech E6k. Everything works great except...
The stock oil PSI gauge and also my autometer oil PSI gauge peg when I attach the signal wire to the oil PSI sender on the block. Doubt it's the sender, tried 3 different ones with the same result- gauges peg.
The stock Engine Temp gauge and my autometer Engine Temp gauge do the same- peg when i attach the signal wire to the temperature sensor on the water pump housing.
If i try to use the GM temp sensor for the E6k as a signal for the Autometer Engine Temp gauge the E6K reads a pegged signal, it thinks the coolant is like 300 degrees or something crazy like that.
Thats it, I can't figure it out. Any ideas???

common...anything?? I've searched and searched. It has to be something stupid but i dont know what. I've tried new sensors, run new signal wires...could a bad/missing ground do this?
What color is the ground in the gague cluster harness for the stock gagues...mabe I cut it...???

if they are pegging when they are attatched, then they are ground shorting... check your wires.
And why are you trying ot use aftermarket guages with stock senders/sensors? Don't expect that to work well, aftermarket gauges won't use the same sensors, and if they did use the same sensors, they would suck as bad or worse than the stock guages.
