Oil Pressure Gauge

Oil Pressure Gauge
Ok so my Oil pressure gauge isnt really working right anymore. The wire going to a little black box near the oil filter got ripped out and was grounded by the transmission making the readings go all the way to the max and then back down.
now the gauge sits below the 0 point. i re-attached the wire to that black box by soldering it and the guage works but it works below the 0 mark. Is there any way i can fix this? should i get a new gauge from a cluster somewhere?
or can i just take it apart and reset the guage? I know i should get a new black box thing so it can work correctly, but I just needed some help on what exactly happened.

I'm not 100% sure but I thought that was for something else. Either way, it's just a resistor. You can probably to go radio shack to get a new one + solder that on.
If the black box isn't your problem then you just have gunk built up in the area where the oil pressure sensor is. Which is really common. I'd say go for an aftermarket one.

The "little black box" is a capacitor not a resistor and the gauge will work just fine without it.
In my experience it's rare for a gauge to fail, more likely the sending unit is at fault.
If it does turn out to be the gauge, the secondary gauges in the FC cluster are physically paired, so you'd have to replace both the oil pressure and the voltmeter (or boost in the case of a turbo)
together.
