Oil pressure is at around 50 psi at 5rpm and up

I have a small oil leak coming from the oil metering pump, and i run 20w 50 oil.. When I first start my car, I have to drive around for about 10 minutes before the oil pressure goes up to 60 psi, is this because of the weight of oil that I am useing???? I noticed, when I went past 5 rpm, the oil pressure went down to around 50psi, the needle on my stock oil pressure gauge was in the middle of 30psi and 60psi at 5 rpm and above.. Is this normal for rotary engine, or is there some thing wrong?? help would be appreciated...

The stock OP guage sucks. I would verify it with a mechanical one before you start worrying. Also see this link concerning the fromt cover O ring:

I wouldn't trust the stock guage. My guage does some funky stuff at time.

If you verify that you do have this problem then I suspect you may be blowing oil out past the o-ring in the front cover. This problem is indicated by good idle oil pressure that increases up to 50-60 psi and then decreases the harder you drive the engine (higher rpm).

If that doesn't fix it, come back to us. Personally, don't take any action until you get a good aftermarket gauge and check the pressure for real!

Take care,
Andy
