Oil in my intercooler

I got my turbo rebuilt by a questionable shop. I learned this after dealing with many burning turbos. I figured out the oil burning problem on the exhaust side already.

Im curious about the intake side of my turbo though. There was a good amount of oil on the hot side of my IC piping, how normal is this?

I erased the pics, but the hybrid this guy built basically had the spring, backing plate, housing, turbine wheel, and this lil metal piece, which I am guessing was the oil seal for intake side? It just fit the shaft, and sits on the backing plate. I dont have an assembled stock turbo to see how the intake side is sealed off from the oil in the bearing housing

Also, I didnt recirculate my PCV, it spits out a decent amount of oil if I drive hard. is this normal? Do you think these problems have something to do with each other or are they 2 differnt things?

This turbo has still been causing problems? I just took off my intercooler and there is no oil at all. I have s5 turbo mated to and s4 block. Same setup as yours right?

s5 turbo with a to4 intake side on it. I dont have an old stock turbo to see if I am missing any parts. The only thing I have that I would say that seals off oil is this metal piece that ***** on the shaft. It sits flat on the backing plate, but it doesnt look like much of a seal. At least the exhaust side has a ring , sorta like a piston ring

oil in the intercooler usually means its being "sucked" through the compressor side and being blown through the piping. the only time this happened to me was when my turbo had a seal go through it and knock it off balance. major shaft play.

Is your crankcase vented to your TID? Might not be the turbo.

My crankcase is vented to the atmosphere. It spits a decent amount of oil when i boost.

I would say the oil in my intercooler was about 1/4 cup sitting right before entering the intercooler. Maybe with 5000 miles being driven

So what seals oil on the intake side??? I dont have anymore old turbos to see what seals it
