I came out of my afternoon class to find a large puddle of oil underneath my car...

Great... It's been a f***ing bad day as it is and this didn't help any.

I check the dipstick and it read that I had plenty of oil.

At lunch I added a quart of oil because the dipstick read that I was low on oil. Could I have added too much and now oil pressure is forcing it out? It doesn't leak any worse when the car is running and I just checked it a few hours after parking it at work and I have another puddle of oil.

This really pisses me off because I changed the oil last week and I can't really afford to change it again but it looks like I might be forced to while fixing the leak tonight. I'm running Mobil 1 and I'm poor... Argh... I have to get this fixed tonight in the cold because I HAVE to have a car and I'm not gonna drive it with oil leaking out as bad as it is.

Please just help...

Check your oil cooler and/or lines as well. Do you run premix? Castrol GTX is cheaper than mobil 1 and probably safer to run in the rotary.

Thread jack!

Alright. I've been underneath the car and it seems that there isn't a oil gasket. Is there supposed to be one? I talked to the *sarcastic tone* wonderful people down at autozone and oreilys and they say there isn't one avalable and at Oreilys they said there isnt supposed to be one. HELP! I have a factory Mazda shop manual and it says there is supposed to be one.

oil pan gasket?? yea, they have oil pan gaskets. you probably just cant see it. hopefully.

Not to sound like a totally jackass, but your sure its oil? Dirt and **** on the ground can make steering fluid or clutch fluid I spose look sorta like oil.
The only reason I say this is becuase your dipstick didn't report any missing oil.

have you checked the oil filter, if it's loose, it would definalty leave a lot of oil on the ground, since it's sitting when it occurs it might just be leaking out of the filter slowly

I KNEW this would start an argument. Which is why I used the word PROBABLY. My information comes from reading lots of discussion and agreeing that SOME, not all synthetic blends will work in a rotary and yield low ash content and be safe to burn off. I don't remember the brands so I used the word probably. Happy?

Well... Its dripping outta the front of the oil pan... and it looks like oil :-P

From reading the FAQ it says Mobil 1 is good so... yeah...

The oil filter is tight... first thing i checked...

the oil Could be from a car that parked there before you? and you didnt notice it till you were walkin back up to it?
