Oil changing question...

I have an elder aquaintance who's quite enthused with cars. He currently has 1979 Toyota supra with around 375,000 miles on it. He's the original owner, and the car is all original...it was his first car (he bought it when he was 18). Not too long ago he was out tinkering with the car and, being a supra fan, I swung by. He was out doing his monthly "thing" with the car. He goes out, checks the bearings and tires and tranny, changes his air filter and checks his fuel pressure...he does more up-keep on this car in a month than most people do ina year...but one thing really strikes me odd about it. He hasn't changed his oil in about 20 years. He changes the filter every month, and he adds oil if it needs it (he says any more it needs about a qt a month). When you look at the oil that pours from the filter, or what's on the dipstick...it's amazing. Looks just like it does when it got put in the car...and the car runs beautifully. It would keep up with my MKII supra and my MKII was fairly quick.

Anyways...

The 13b injects a noticeable amount of oil into the combustion chamber over time. I can't remember how much but like 1qt per 3000 miles or something? If it's circulating oil fairly regularly, would it be safe to do such a thing in an RX7? I ask because he found a 86 GXL he wants...lol...

i dont think so.... oil tends to break down about every 3-5k miles..... mostly due to viscosity breakdown....... it doesnt serve the purpose its supposed to after that time....
