Odometer font color
Hey all
I was at the local junkyard and I pulled a couple rx7 dashes and it seems one of them has red colored mileage font and the others have white colored mileage font.
does anyone know why this was done or what particular models had this?
this is the car I pulled it from
and it seems all other S4's had white faces

The redish Orange was on all models and is the stock color to the dash gauges. In some cars it fades to light orange.
as far as the odomemeter the early 86 models had the orange digits

Lets make its simple for even the engineering majors...
Early 86= orange clock
Early 86= orange digits on the odo
And all RX-7s were built in the same factory in Japan.
Next thing someone is gonna post is something lame like "gee I found out the 88 model had a blacked out warning panel. That must be from a Jspec right?"

I think something doesn't add up...
All the 2nd gens I have owned have been early '86s, and all have had white odometer numbers and green clocks. Also other minor little things like the coolant bottle on the drivers fender, clutch switch bypass, etc.

i could show you a dozen orange clocks sitting on my bench
were any of your early 86's actually made before 1/86 (like as early as 6/85)?

could be... Canadian models didn't always follow US models and tended to be even more esoteric when it came to what came with what model.
Of course I have yet to see a 86 that didn't have Orange digits and a Orange clock. People tell me they exist... just never seen one myself

I think the build date on Tina is 5/85 or something like that. Maybe it's 10/85. Don't know the build date of my others off hand as they have all be crushed into cubes by now (parts cars...).
