odd radiator/radiator hose question

ok so i have an aftermarket radiator in my car. its a chevy one from ebay (on the car when i bought it) and the top part (either outlet or inlet) hole is on the opposite side as the stock one. so i need to make a cusom radiator hose for it. before there was a pipe about foot and a half long and 2 inches in diameter (too big) when i took it off there was rust and corrosion in it. so i need to know what type of metal piping/tubing i can use that will not corrode or rust or anything like that and i can get in 1 5/8 or 1/3/4 inch diameter for a reasonable price. (picture is below, old setup, but will do something similiar with new one only better and smaller pipe)

Steel should work.
If you are seeing corrosion, you have more cooling system problems inside the motor.
A good flush & fresh coolant will stop the deterioration.

Also you are loosing air flow to the oil cooler & radiator without a belly pan in the front.

No fan? If it's a pusher, check that it is fanning the oil cooler also.
Or at least not blocking it.

Also what kind of tmic is that? Is that just some random core you found with custom endtanks?

It looks like a stock J-spec without the top plate & mounting flange.

It's a stock IC with the shroud removed. This is a bad idea, as a lot of air from the scoop will not be going through the core, but around the edges of it instead. Same deal with the radiator. Without the undertray and plastic trim a lot of air will be going around the edges of the radiator, instead through it. Basically this engine has very inefficient cooling systems...

For the pipe just use stainless steel, and make sure you use anti-freeze. A pipe supplier will most likely give you a suitable off-cut for free, as opposed to a retailer who'll charge you for a full length. Look in the yellow pages for a local stainless supplier.

It is next to impossible to prevent it from rusting.
Even most forms of stainless steel is rust *resistant* and not rust *proof*.
The problem is the pipe is isolated from the rest of the chassis (ground).
It might help to electrically connect it to the chassis (ground).
