did any fc's come with an obd2 outlet? or did they all just come with the mazda green connectors under the hood?

just curious because i saw a 89 rx7 with an obd2 port and the guy swears its all original. smells fishy to me.

thanks
joe

ObdII wasn't even a thought when these cars came out. A few 95 cars and all 96+ cars are obdII

Uhh you know those green diagnostic connectors in the engine bay on FCs? Those are technically ODB (one, not two). ODB was a massive failure because it allowed manufacturers to specify everything. The codes, the connectors, etc. ODB's failure paved the way for ODB2 which standardized the connector, certain interfacing functions, and a specific set of codes and their meanings.

^it wasn't even referred to as OBD "I" though until OBD "II" mandated for '96

Kind of like World War One wasn't called that until the second happened.

MAZDATRIX and MAZDA sell/sold a box you plugged into the six socket green connector in the engine bay and that gave you the codes/faults present. Not worth the money when you can buy two LED lights and do the same thing for five bucks or less.

Not realistically possible. Would take too much R+D time and money for basically no gain. Would be easier to strip out the ECU, all the sensors, the entire wiring harness, and replace all of it with a brand new system,
