O2 Sensor Wire

Someone drove my car once, for the last time, and got her hot, real hot, turned my air filter to rubber water hot. Anyways, big problem, one of them at least, is they managed to burn the wire to the o2 sensor, i can't figure out where the wire runs, does anyone know where exactly it plugs into the system so i can just run a new wire for it?

it goes from the o2 sensor to the ECU. throught the wire harness. you can just cut it off at the ecu and splice in the new one. I had to do that too. FYI you can run fine without, so you can put it at the bottom of the do to list

Wait a second......so you are saying I can run my new header without an o2 sensor at all? If this is true, that would save me a lot of time and money.

EDIT: My header is an off-road piece, it doesnt have the place to screw in the o2 sensor.

your gas millage will drop a bit and driving emissions will go up. but the car will run fine. check engine light might come on if you're 89-91

hey Scott89t2, Will the car still perform up to par?

Also, how would I go about doing that, do I just disconnect the little connector thing?

FC3AZ, your car may run rich due to the missing O2 sensor signal.

After i put in a new O2 sensor my car started running less rich... its still a bit rich though

The only thing I would do is, get my header installed, and have all the piping welded up. When I get the money for a new o2 sensor, I can buy it, extend the wire length, then have the o2 sensor bung that I have, installed on the header. Its mainly a short term money saving issue. U guys think this plan is ok?

Welp, i have the typical runs rough and lack of power, i was hoping it was the dangling wire from my o2 sensor, now i guess i will pull my cats and make sure they arn't cloged.
