Not seeing boost rise with new mods

Hey, i was wondering when the boost is supposed to go higher with different mods. My first mod, I installed 3" TID with blitz SUS filter. Boost after that was around .42 bar. Then this weekend I installed a bonez 2.5" downpipe and midpipe. I took the main cat out, air pump out, removed the split air pipe and blocked off the acv and air pipe hole. So i'm running with only downpipe and midpipe and 3" TID. Boost gets really close to .5 bar but that's it. I thought that it should be overpowering the wastegate by now and creeping. Is this normal? BTW, it's a S4 TII.

Did you buy the car used, or new? It's possible someone has ported your wastegate already. Creep isn't a good way to increase boost & power. You should port the wastegate and then get a boost controller.

i bought it from a salvage. I know creep isn't good, but i'm jus surprised that it isn't creeping. I expected it to be horrible so i was going to lay off until i got my test pipe in so i could at least be running with stock mufflers. But i punched it a few times... no spike. went on the highway, punched it in 3rd, 4th, and 5th... still no spike. That's why i was just wondering. That would be strange if the wastegate was ported already. Less work for me.

But a regular unmodded TII with these mods should be having a boost creep problem am I correct?

Yes, it should creep in higher gears (4th & 5th are the most obvious). It's possible the wastegate has been ported already, or you may have exhaust leaks, it's hard to say for sure.

i doubt it's exhaust leakage. But i can't really tell. The car is loud as phuc. so, i guess i'll have to check it out some time. very strange.

Consider yourself very lucky. It sounds like you have a sweet running t2. I think this is the only post where you don’t have a problem with your car. Wow, this kind of blows my mind

^_^' i don't know about that. I still have to find my oil leak and it seems my motor may be starting to fade. I'm having minor hot start problems occasionally and a few electrical gremlins. But I'm ready for it!! MWUAHAHAHA. When it goes... it'll be time for a street port.

Is the stock boost controller & vac rack still installed.
Previous owner may have rerouted manifold pressure directly to the waste gate actuator.

no, i'm running completely open downpipe. so there's basically nothing after the bonez 2.5" downpipe and midpipe. And yes, the vac rack is still there... and it doesn't have any sort of aftermarket boost controller.

Previous owner may have ported the waste gate.

For a test: pull, cap & plug the waste gate hose from the compressor outlet.
Do a very careful test drive.
Be careful not to blow the motor because you will be seeing full boost (holy **** - off the scale).
Put the waste gate hose back on.

Now read up on fuel mods & boost controllers.

I have a 2.5" TID w/ cone filter and a 2.5" exhaust all the way back. I creep bad...I hit fuel cut under WOT in 2nd gear. At least I know that turbo is working! I'm laying off for now, and porting the wastegate in the next week or 2. Maybe your wastegate is already ported? Was it boosting to stock boost before the mods? If not, you may have something wrong with your turbo. If it did boost normally before the mods, I'm guessing you have a ported wastegate.

before the mods, it was boosting fine. It went up to around .4 bar which is around 5.9 psi. It's always boosted really well. I tested the shaft play and there is almost none. I can't even detect any shaft play. Spinning by hand, it is just so easy to spin.

And yeah, i know plenty about boost controllers and i prefer to just keep the amounts of boost that these mods give me and no more, so i don't think there's a need for fuel upgrades just yet until i plan to break 10psi.
