Red face Noobie In Search for a Rex!

Hello everyone

I recently have been thinking about which car to save up for since I crashed my 93 civic coupe (flame on Wayne!) about 3 weeks ago. I've always had a thing for Rx-7's, I'm not sure what it is but they are very appealing.

To get to the point, I found a 88 FC for sale (non-turbo) with 146k miles on it. The price is $1900 obo (im hoping he'll go down closer to $1500 if I give him cash). I was then planning on swapping out the motor for a 13bt (is the 13bt single or twin turbo?). Is this a decent plan? Or should I just wait till I come across a Turbo II model (which I'm assuming I wont find for anywhere near $1500 in south CA)? The car is in good shape and the owner seems very mature from my convo with him over the phone.

Thanks ahead of time!

PS- I know this isn't the South West section of the forum, but if anyone has websites or locations of shops that are known for good work on Rx7's / Mazda's in south Ca, it would be greatly appreciated.

PSS- If theres any drift junkies looking for a 85 corolla GTS coupe, i have the project car for you!

look in the "rx7's for sale " section, i'm sure you will find what you are looking for.

Ps. also read the FAQ on the top of this section to find the answer to all of your questions.
