non stop eratic idle
I recently took my car in to get looked at because when im in nuetral my car idles at 2k. then after a second it drops to say 1700rpm then back up to 2k. at times its a constant up and down and trust me VERY annoying. the guy at the shop says the idle rev valve needs to be replaced at its 700$ from the dealer. i tried to find it at the junkyard or online and didnt see that type of valve anywhere, i first looked in the haynes repair manual.
just the other day i went to see whats up and he said he almost had it towed for abandonment...
. he then said nothings wrong except the idle is off???
does this sound right to anyone? i do not like driving with my idle like this and it sometimes causes the temp to go up to halfway on the gauge (its a 1988) its the only car i have so does anyone know where to start with getting the idle back to normal?

After you're sure the TPS is functional and set correctly, go back and adjust the idle speed to 750 (with the initial set connector shorted (or grounded)). Most hunting idle problems can be cured by setting the TPS and the idle speed....to avoid getting flamed in the future make sure you search for solutions to your problems before starting a new thread. Hunting idle threads exist in abundance on this forum.
