No_lucks build thread

was going on !
so i decided as the days come closer to me starting my turbo swap in my 88 vert
i think its time for a build thread.

i need to figure out a parts list i feel like im forgetting somethings
motor
trans
clutch
flywheel
driveshaft
lsd rear end
Wastegate
Diverter valve
Rebuild
Water meth
Standalone
Boost controller
Intercooler
turbo timer
Piping
Fan
Turbo
Fuel pump
Fuel injector
Fuel pressure regulator
Block off plates
Turbo manifold
Gauges
(boost wideband pyro oil temp oil pressure water temp)
vacuum hoses

thats all i can think of.. if any of you can think of anything i am missing let me know
because i really need to budget this build so i can set priorities.. its going to be a street car maybe some auto cross every now and again. i think i will be happy with 350 hp the motor is streetported.

do i even need a standalone for that amount of hp? or will something like rtek 2.xx work fine for me ? and btw the only reason why i didnt want to go for rtek was because of the whole pda thing and the fact that im still using 20+ year old wiring..
thanks

Do a search on each item you want to know about, and search about rebuilds in general.

With that list of goodies and the word "budget", you will need a few years

A reliable build would cost you a lot.

if you're on a budget, you shouldn't even consider a swap.

let me rephrase my original post...
ok for those who have built cars before... what recommendations do you guys have for me
i got the motor trans clutch flywheel drive shaft for 800 bucks..
the motor is said to be a streetport that was rebuilt but blow coolant seal or something..
so i will assume the worst and say 1500 for a rebuild.
now i am aim for 250-350 hp i think that is way more then enough for my first turbo car and a street car.
so do i need a stand alone for that hp goal?

so you have a motor and its blown? thats your starting block?
how mechanical inclined are you? do you have access to a shop and tools? can you rebuild a motor or will it need to be outsourced? this is going to kill your pocket book if someone needs to do it for you.
a goal of 250-350hp is a large one. you neeed to figure out your budget before you do anything. figure how much you can actually spend.... then double it. thats what this will most likely cost you.
now i just finished a turbo swap and spend a bit more than i planned on it. if you can try and find everything you need for the swap in one spot. maybe like a roller. its buying every little thing that kills your wallet,.

im almost done with tech school... i have machine shop and we have all the tools that i will need... i might not have a few of the specialty tools but one of the teachers was a mazda tech back in the 80s and all that so i think im good.... i guess ill just have to search up "how to make so and so power" or 250hp or something and see what i come up with.. my goal used to be 400 but ..yea that wont happen

A build thread that's not a build thread.. What's this Diverter you speak of? Do you mean a e-cutout or exhaust cutout?

Other things you may want to include in this "build" are:

Radiator
SS OC lines
SS fuel line
AN Fittings
Y blocks
ECU Harness (whether you go standalone or Rtek)
...

I can go on but I don't feel like it.

and a diverter valve is a blow off valve that recirculates the air back into the intake to cut down lag time.

hey guys and girls.. been a while thought that id revive my build thread since poverty striken pockets are doing better.

i am still piecing togeather my build. i thought i would take the easy root and buy a jdm s5 t2 motor with the intent to build but the seller fucked me over... luckily he was decent enought to give me back 305 bucks out of the 400 i gave him. i got some usuable parts like a unorthadox main pulley.a good eshaft. irons and housings that are in mint condition... for practice porting.

luckily dan unk had some irons one of them being that extra cast dowelled iron. so bam!! paypaled and shipped everything was GREAT! till i cleaned up my intermidiate iron and there it was a nice crack on all the engine mount studs sigh.. some one must of over torqued the studs and welp we cant use that for obvious reasons. (for reasons ie. cant risk breaking the iron as immediate oil drainage/starvation will occur.)

shot off a email to thatt saint dan unk and hopefully ill have a new iron some time next week. i also aquired a newly rear ended vert that does something ive never seen a rx7 do. it starts right up and aside from what could be a minor blow by issue it seems to be a solid motor. i intend to take apart and steal the housings so i am praying to god that the housings are in good shape.

if you asking your self why it is because i plan on taking the sleeves out of the s5 garbage housings and inserting them into what i hope has great condition s4 housings.

so so far i have
a set of s5 irons
haltech e6x
jdm lower intake
turbo trans
light wieght fly wheel
clutch and pressure disk
stainless steel clutch lines
drive shaft
new starting and charging harness.. well alot of harnesses

i got working top motors (finally)
i got my engine rebuild kit all the internal ****.
thats all i can remember right now. ill keep you up dated

Thats a pretty big port. I may be wrong, but that would be an aggressive streetport.

No, on the iron itself, check your haynes manual and the FSM. They should tell you the proper measurments.
