no start/ecu update (HAILERS THANKS)
well the deal is the car wont start and the brown/white wires are getting a downright shitty voltage when i test them... after many post by hailers and several other people on this forum i THINK i found the electrical gremlin on my car...
ok hailers if your reading heres what i did... you told me to disconnect all the sensors going to pin 2A on the emission harness and test for resistance... well i tested first to see what i would get and i was getting a lot of resistance (low 20's) so i unplugged all of them and it was clear (o.l) i started plugging one by one in and seeing which one was the fault and after a couple of times i singled it down to the AFM... when all are plugged in but the AFM its fine and when i plug that one in it goes haywire up to low 20's... so thats my problem, the wire when not connected reads fine so i guess its that actual AFM not the wiring that goes from it to the ECU. i am going to look for another AFM today and order it.
also hailers you said to think back about what i did to the car before... well when it was flooded i pulled on the AFM harness to try to get it out and it wouldnt budge so i was like oh ok i guess the screws come out so i took them out and started to slide it out but bare wire exposed and i was like oh thats not it so i put it back in... im thinking when i pulled it out a wire or two might have hit the metal edge and since the AFM is metal and its connected to the engine/frame/anything ground it might have grounded a bad wire... thats the only theory i have behind why the AFM is bad....
is there a way to test the AFM and see if its bad or not... thanks hailers and anybody and everybody else that has contributed their thoughts and advice to my not starting and ecu problem.. have a good day

Yes, the afm plug just pulls off. It has a spring clip on it. NEVER unscrew the JACK. That probably shorted something.
If I were you what I'd do first, is pull the plug off the afm. No unscrewing required. With it disconnected, turn thte key to ON and see if pin 2A is now putting out approx 4.5 to 5volts (plug connected to the ECU and sticking the meter lead in the back of the plug/wire at 2A)
The FSM has a page devoted to ohming out the afm.

hey man thanks for the info hailers AGAIN... i tested for 4.5 volts and its a no-go.. the ecu is def gone... i tested the afm as well just now and only the Er-Fc and E2-Vs test fine... which is the wide open throttle... but the other tests such as E2-Vs and E2-Vref at closed throttle show a measley .004 resistance when its supposed to be 50-500 and 200-500... i just got a AFM from santiago in the mail today so hopefully when it gets here ill once again have spark and maybe just maybe i can get my damn car running lol.. oh well ill post what the official problem was and let everybody know its on the road again hopefully.. thanks guys.. all in all it was worth it to do this cause the first mechanic would have told me the motor was blown i just know it
