No Dash or Parking Lights

Ok. My dash lights stopped turning on today. The other thing I noticed is that none of my parking lights work either. The brake lights themselves and the reverse lights still work properly, but none of the other exterior lights, except the headlights, will come on. I tried searching and found things that were similar but not exactly what was going on with my car. Any suggestions?

You have a blown fuse. Check the fuses in the drivers side kickpanel. I forget which one it is but replace the blown fuse down there and you'll be back in business.

Did you just install something in the car, like a deck?

And you don't have any extra "goodies" tied in to that circuit?

You may have a bulb filiment on its way out, then, or an oxidized socket in serious need of cleaning. You just need to figure out which one(s)

fuse, had that problem last week, just switch that 15AMP (blue) fuse with a new one. it's place is maked on the fuse cover box, u can find the pic in the FAQ for the box cover too. it's the one marked "illum", it'll take u 2 seconds to change it.

My lights came back on last night. Just out of nowhere, I let off the brake pedal and the lights came on. Dash and parking. Really weird. Does that help at all?

as covered in the FAQ for FC sticky thread at the top of this section, you probably have either a failing light switch or failing harness at the back of the light switch.

I'm pretty much in the same ball park as you, except I only have the headlights working.

Listen to Icemark...he has the correct answer. It's not the fuse.

Check out the FAQ

I do have replacement rebuilt headlight switches on my website, but you'll still need to replace the light switch harness if it is burnt

The light switch harness, looks like what? When you say check the back of the light switch, for Tail and turn signal purposes, would I have to take off the back carpes for the tail lights and find the connectors? Or Will these be close to the inatake manifold in the engine, or am I way off.

I'm having a similar problem.

I too have lost rear lights and instrument lights. Headlights work as well as break lights. Fuse OK, and I replaced the headlight switch and harness this afternoon. I still have the problem. It does have an aftermarket stereo that I didn't install. Should I yank it? Feel like I'm shooting in the dark.

I realy thought it was the harness/switch because the headlight pins were toasted.

It can be that as well. If the headlight harness is smoke and has let the genie out, then you will need to replace both the headlight switch and harness

Not solved yet.

Well I yanked out the stereo to no avail. It had a type of relay wired into it, pulled that too, no go… I then pulled the CPU and resoldered the connectors, still no go. I’m starting to not like this car:-). Anyway, I’ll take any suggestions. Tonight it’s check every flipping light bulb and socket. Is there a way to hot wire this to a different switch or something?

Thanks - Andy

have you fixed the burnt headlight switch and harness yet???

and the CPU has nothing to do with the lights other than a single wire warning you if you open the door with the lights on.

The relay at the radio was probably for the power antenna
