newly developed 3800 slight hesitation. not grounding

OK so I'm driving home today and about 10 min from my house I suddenly feel a drop in power. It feels like no combustion took place. The problem is always at 3800 and is is pretty slight. I used to have a more severe hesitation but grounding the boost sensor and the ECU got rid of it. It feels as if i have no combustion at 3800 but I can continue smoothly through the rest of the RPM band. I am suspecting that maybe a piece of crap made it from my tank into one of my secondary injectors. when the problem started I was on EMPTY. I always fill up at 1/4 tank but I needed to get home so I didn't fill up. The other thing I'm thinking is perhaps a fouled plug? But then I would have more of a constant problem right? I've also already check my 6pi by wiring them open and no change. BTW s4 NA, Headers, replacement pipe, ACV blocked off.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Check your in-tank fuel filter

if it was just a filter or a solder I don't think it would be exclusively at 3800 rpm. nor do I think id be able to power through

Yeh, before I cleaned out my filter it would choke around 4K. It was very, VERY dirty

(I doubt thats the problem, but everyone should check theirs anyway, so why not?)

3800RPMs? Wasn't that around the point where the secondary fuel injectors started working?

I'm not all that knowledgable with this stuff.. But I think I recall reading something in the past that said the hesitation around there was because that's where the secondary fuel injectors fired... And the hesitation was from them being stopped up somewhat.. And that just as something to prevent the problem, it was good to occasionally rev over it....

Correct me if I'm wrong though, just sayin what I recall reading in the past.....

Mine's always had this problem to some degree. The more premix I ran through it and the more redlining I did (after grounding the ECU directly to the batt. negative cable and checking all engine grounds), the more it went away.

Now I can't stop myself from punching the gas and ripping through first at least once during a drive (gotta love street porting). This causes the engine to blast through the 3800 rpm transition all the time, and I have found the more I force it through this zone, the less it hesitates. Now, some days it will feel a tad flat at 3800 rpm but usually just feels like an increase in power from the secondary ports opening up.

Keys to the 3800 rpm hesitation problem: get your injectors clean (secondaries only come on at and above 3800 rpm), take care of all grounds, check ECU solder joints if necessary, and don't be afraid to redline your wankel. The secondaries only get a workout above 3800 rpm, so use them or lose them!

I agree with what your saying 88 and I am starting to believe that my problem is a particle in one of my secondaries. I think theres a small piece of crap stuck in one of my injectors which is prohibiting proper fuel atomization. If you punch it, theres enough fuel pressure to atomize the fuel. It's got to be this because I just developed this problem after ridding myself of it not more than 4 months ago. Oh and speaking about revving, I don't think that should be a problem with my driving style. I rev out every gear. So much in fact that I actually shook one of my tension bolts out of the engine completely...woops.

What the hell are u talking about TPDN? The car is already in the hands of someone who knows what they're doing ME. No one knows my car like me and this minor glitch is nothing compared to the work I've alredy accomplished.
