Hi I was attempting to change my convertible right side door this afternoon (coz I crashed it earlier...sob), and I ran into a few problems:
1. I couldn't reach the bolts that bolts the hinge to the body, forcing me to take the door off the hinge instead of the door with hinge together.
2. The middle bolt for the top hinge (that bolts to the body, not the door) will not come out! I have loosened it but it just wouldn't come off the hinge. So the old hinge still hangs on the door (I need to take it out becoz it's bent).
Can I put my new door on by installing the hinges on the car first and then put the door on? Or is that the wrong way? And how do I take the old (top) hinge off the body?
Please help!!!!!

call a body shop.
Ask them how to install a door.
Typically, you install the hinges on the part that will be hardest to reach once the doo is in place.
then the eaiser points are accessable.
Use wooden shims (wedges) to align the door.
A body shop can help you with the procedure if you need help.
you may also have spun a nut off that bolt that wont come out.
By this, i mean, the nuts are welded the inside.
You might have to reach around to get to it.
make sure that you remove the interior panel and glass before you remove the door.
Youll understand why once you start the process.
(But you probably already understand it)

If you want to take the hinge off, you'll need to do the following:
- loosen the wheel well so you can get a wrench in there
- take the front nose bolts off through the wheel well and removing the top bolts from the nose
- take the side panel off by removing the bolts behind the nose, under the side panel, and the metal tab behind the side panel
- remove the hing
I have to do the same thing soon. I caught the Turbo II door on the garage door frame as the car rolled out of the garage. It bend hinges forcing the door about 2" upwards out of allignment. I was able to re-bend the door/hinges so the door will close. It still is a bit off and I'll have to remove the hinges and bend them manually back and re-allign the door.
At least there isn't any permanent damage

Yeah I left the map light on and ran down the battery. I was manually backing her out of the garage to jump the car from the 929 and hit the clutch instead of the brake.,
