Hey all,

Well,i'm a newb in the rotary world.. I'm Eric, i'm a strong mazda enthusiast...i had a 1.8l bp powered Escort (the miata/protege motor) which i slapped a t3 on, with the stock gtx manifold, i was running around 10psi....

here's my current challenge...
'86 white Rx7... p'n'p 13b n/a, smog/ps/accs were removed, e-fan, stock header...

here's wut i want to do..... radical 13bt......i'm piecing together the turbo and manifold....but, i'm not sure whether to buy a used 13bt motor, or just slap it onto my 13b...it'd rather blow up my current engine and build another one in the process (i'm loosing my license in a month and this will make for a great project....)

so with that being said...someone with a built t2 give me something to aim for...
like i know the in's and out of a turbo setup, and that's not hard for me...it's more like...i don't want a stock turbo motor going into my car.....

what kinda power can be made in a stock t2 with upgraded turbo, exh, injectors etc?
or wut kinda power can i get if i just slap a turbo on my current engine? is it potentially hazardeous since the stock na motor has higher compression? can the thing even handle turbo?

i have parts laying around, i have boost timing master controller by msd, 12:1 fmu....and i can get everything else...

JUST GIVE ME ADVICE, i'm new to rotarys and love this thing already, i've been trying to buy one for over 3yrs....

this won't be the last message from me..

searching the cite will be most helpful; i don't run a turbo, but through reading the millions of posts on it- proper turbo and application are not as easy as slapping them together, much has to be taken ito considertion like what are your goals? pure power is is going to be a street car, or drag car? the trim and afr's are pretty important issues. 2nd gen specific FAQ's are helpful
Aaron Cake has writeups on a lot of stuff that's very valuable, too.

yeah, i searched, and read that faq...
so...

i'm thinking somewhere between 300-400hp, i would say street driven, but definantly not daily....

how bout .60/1.15 trim t4...720 injectors...safc....walbro 255pump...10-12psi...3" dp, highflo cat 2.5" duals(or 3" single)...delta wastegate....bov....fmic..
that would be if i went just onto the 13, i'd probably run lower boost, 8-10 might be safer

i'm i going in the right direction?

if i ran a 13b t2....upgrade the turbo to the .60/1.15 turbo, wastegate, bov, 3" dp, safc? and possibly larger injectors?

will a stock 13bt handle about 350? i already know i'll be upgrading the clutch and drive-train accordingly... and the na tranns and t2 tranns and drivetrain are different....

does that sound like a respectable build?

ok i found this....https://www.rx7club.com/2nd-generation-specific-1986-1992-17/am-newbie-rx7s-how-do-i-look-after-car-660657/
aaron cake's website is in there...

so, basically wut i think i'm gonna do is just buy a t2 engine/ecu/wiring/tranny/diff, and swap it, and while i have the engine out i'm gonna up the turbo, add a new manifold and do everything while i have it out...

so.. anyone want to give me advice on running a t4 or a t3....or a t3/t4 hybrid....

That sucks... all i can tell you is you are going to have more and more fun and fall more and more in love. The beautiful thing about these cars is with a well-tuned 300whp you can hit 12's and still have a quite reliable setup. And honestly the 1/4 mile does not do justice to how brutally fast these cars can be. While some cars may beat you in the 1/4, you will be smoking them on the highway and most cars with more HP will not be able to keep up. That being said you should look into BNR trubochargers. They are upgrades to the stock turbo and extremely reliable. ****, if you are going to be without a liscense for a long time i would find some rotorheads in your area, make friends, and undertake a rebuild project. I would suggest porting your motor and make sure to upgrade to the T2 brakes and suspension while you are at it.

well, i already have plans for the suspension, drivetrain, brakes, rollers...
i'm going to try and find a coilover setup, probably run an 8lb flywheel, with stage 2-3 pressureplate (act or the like), cross drilled/slotted ebc red or green's, and some form of 17" wheels..

i know of a guy with a 3rd gen around, but, he hasn't seam to have shown his head around yet... drives a grey/metallic 3rd gen he gutted the sequential bullshit and went true tt..and theres a 1st gen running around thats recently busted his coilpacks...

anyway, anyone care to enlighten me on porting the engine, wut would be a good setup.. mild street port? bridge port? looking for like 300hp above would be even better...

tuning world is easy to me, and i got a decent paying job and no real bills once i lose my license....

ooooo and these things are insane......there's a road in town that as a wicked s bend in it, man 2nd gear heel toe braking had me all .....i was cruizing the other night with my bro in his 5.0, 45mph roll, proper gearing 3rd was a little slow and 2nd was a little crazy.......gotta love those power down shifts....

KEEP ON ROLLIN!
