Red face Newb to rotary and forum!

Hey guys, I just got my first rx7. It doesnt run yet, but im gonna need help here. The story: A few years ago the car got really hot, a wire melted a little, grounded out then caught fire. The fire damage was minimal but the owner decided to start unplugging things from clips to vacuum hoses. Now all I need to do is replace the melted wires (lots of electrical background) and re-assemble the motor. I just got the car and I am already in love with it. I have been a honda guy forever, and Had 4 del sols (down to 1 now). The rx7 is a 1989 (of december) turbo. Anyone got pics of closeups around the engine? Here are some pics I took of what task awaits me (and my new ride):

Koo, I been snooping around for a while, anyone got useful online docs on the 13b?

I promised myself I could buy it only if I parked it till my cc bill was low but its just SO tempting to fix it now.....

Plus I just bought a sub setup and CF hood for my del sol

Ok, I guess since Im gonna be postin around here, i'll give a little background on my car experience.

I have built my own motor and boosted it with my custom turbo kit. I also chipped my own ecu and programmed the fuel map. I do my own electrical work and have done some crazy mods in the past. I usually have my friend do my welding at his shop, but I have a little background in welding. I am a certified computer technician with over 11yrs exp (started @ 18 when i got my A+ cert)

So why did the wire melt in the first place? Temps in the engine bay aren't supposed to sky rocket like that. Was the wire loose or something?

Here are some of the projects I have done:

My own decals, body kit install:

My custom turbo timer setup:
http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...arch&plindex=0
(you can also see the custom gauge decal I made above (the red is not paint, but a red decal vinyl)

My own engine build w/ self made turbo kit. Also self installed, chipped, programmed ecu)

Im a del sol lover (also gotta have a truck to get the del sol parts)

+1 in the garage:

Check out the Signal Auto decal I copied from a magazine pic that I put on my 4dr (sold now)

My hachi (also sold)

Honestly I got no clue, I was told it caught fire. I see a few melted wires, a burn spot in the hood, and a disassembled motor. Time to play CSI on my car (only thing is... I dont know what im doing )

Thanx. All those cars I only got because someone was desperate to sell them or I get lucky as hell so they end up costing me almost nothing...

The turbo red one:

$1400 not running, I got it running and 2 months later someone backed into me and wrote me a check (after seeing estimate) for $1900

Gray Del Sol:
Offered $1000 for the sol in unknown condition to a guy that wanted to street race it but never had cash to fix it up, he accepted my offer.

Hachi
$1000 blown head gasket, bought from the president of an AutoX team. Tons of name-brand mods.

RX7:
Dont really wanna say, but lets call it under $1k (I went to get parts off my parts del sol at my friends shop and he insisted I buy it (he knew I could get the cash, other buyers kept flaking)

Del Sol SIR:

Flew to cali and drove it back in 24hrs. Lets say I got more $ than all the above cars into it.
