1. Do a search on "flooding".

2. If the car has trouble starting when cold, check the thermo sensor on the water pump neck and make sure it is within factory specs. Also check the thermowax system. This info can be found in the Haynes manual

3. Flooding can be "solved" by replacing the factory ECU with an aftermarket unit.

Search. Also pick up a Haynes manual.

WHAAA???? - are you saying grounding problems or cold sauder joints in the ECU can cause this? If so, have fc3s.org or someone else re-sauder it for him. Also a new grounding strip on the engine couldn't hurt.

Was his problem:
- keeping it started or idle?
- flooding because he doesn't let the car warm up when moving it?
- no compression when cranking
- compression but flooded engine
- no spark

I think we need more on what's going on.

Download the factory service manual at http://www.iluvmyrx7.com down load the Fuel section and the electrical schematics.

Try these words from NZCONVERTIBLE: A better place for the fuel pump switch is the fuel pump relay under the dash by the steering column. It's got a yellow plug, the switch goes in the middle wire, which is black.

Go to Radio Shack and get the switch and some 18-22 gauge wire and do the above. At least if it floods, you can get it started in a hurry.

Look under the steering column, there's a big relay with a yellow plug. This is the fuel pump relay. Find the middle wire of the five (it's black), cut it and wire a decent sized switch into it (this is the only way the fuel pump should be controlled). Mount the switch somewhere it won't get knocked, the plastic panel under the steering column with the little vent is a good spot.

Above is some more words I stole off another post.
