yeah I agree....I want a single vent but I still owe people hoods and my time is dwindling. I have to finish these off and get some of my other products ready and then I will jump back on making a new one.

Hey, how come those CF Hoodscoops fit like **** and seem to be made cheaply. I got mine and it was scuffed and nicked. I was very disappointed, the first Speedmachine carbon fiber part I bought was extremely shitty.

We need a real reverse hood. Something that actually takes the hot air from the rad and pulls it out. There is one hood I saw had a funnel or ramp just after the stock fan to pull the air directly out.

I'm going to keep track of this thread since I am interested in getting a reverse hood. On the track I can't keep my temps down.

I think the more vents you start adding, its starts getting to flashy and gaudy. Unless its 2 smaller vents, like the turbo vents on either side of each corner of the hood. One vent still keeps it somewhat stock looking and functional. Not that im going for a stock looking car, as i will be cutting into my front bumper alittle for more air. Im looking for a clean look. Such as the panspeed hood looks clean.

I've never seen anything gaudy come out of Dave's shop. But I do agree with you Turbo23. That's why I was originally going to buy the Panspeed hood. I just didn't want to drop the $1200 after shipping.

Dave, any news from you as of yet? I know that things are busy down there right now, but just figured I'd ask.

dave i think you all should seriously make a hood like the one molehill posted... nice and subtle, and a true functional reverse hood without looking all crazy drifter action super.

I wish I had better news, but since we are moving into our new shop, and I don't even have my vents yet to start working on making one I have no progress to report.

As far as my parts being "extremely shitty", I don't agree, and I would be willing to bet that others don't agree either. I have sold probably about 40 hood scoop replacements and have never heard about any fitment problems or problems in quality. The one on my drag car fits perfectly and the finish is glossy even after being parked outside for the better part of a year. If your part was damaged then you probably should have returned it and I would have replaced it.

how can people still be buying this junk? because it 'looks' good does not mean it is.. do your self a favor and look up the 'sag temp' for polyester resin, then go out a meansure the under hood temp of a turbo rotary or even better a TII with a dark hood on a sunny warm day..

As for carbon fiber.. anyone who lays and works with CF or other 'high tech' materials like kevalr, spectrum..knows that polyester does NOT bond with the fibers it simply traps them.. Most FRP users KNOW that polyester shrinks by 10-15% and that CF does not so not only IS the CF stressed it's also mearly trapped between the chemecial bonds of the polyester RESIN .. that is it.. I've spoken to these guys before and they really don't give a crap and actually got rude when I mentioned these well known facts..

NOW, you know WHY the real things are more money.. they use Epoxy or at very least a Iso- viynlester base ... bah why do I bother, I said the same thing about Extereme but the Joy luck club that is the ' high number posters' around here decided to bash me for my knowledge... instead of taking him to task.. I expect the same for this as well..

I WAS well and interested in some of the products till I found out that they obviosuly don't care aobut the product quality , just the 'finish'. I've been roccending people stay away from any of thier products that end up outside the car or where they can be inadvertantly stressed..

Damn....... That was a rant....

I hat to say it.. but.. he's right about the CF/ Epoxy relationship.....

However.. Most C/F hoods on the market are one "show" layer of CF backed with several layers of Fiberglass.

Nothing wrong with a fiberglass hood though, in fact, since i'm going to paint it anyway... I'd rather have the cheaper "glass hood!

Looks like its time for me to attempt another hood of my own.... Hopefully I don't fall through this one... Gotta get moving though before it gets to cold in the shop for the resin to set.... Still didn't install a heater this summer

I understand the resin part but I've owned a FC3s TII CF hood for over a year in ARIZONA heat and it has held up perfectly fine.

That is 35`F low and 90`F High in winter and 80`F low and 115`F high temperature ranges in the shade.

So you may find fault on how they produce the products but so far mine has lasted very well and the finish of the product is great.

BTW the fiberimages /FC3S CF hood is a Glass under frame with full CF top layer

Hmm, well like Digi7ech said. He lives in one of the hottest areas in the US and his hood doesn't have any 'sag temp' so I guess I don't need to look it up since it obviously isn't a factor here. Plus we have hoods here at the shop on cars that have been installed for over 3 years with no fading, yellowing or 'sag'. Over a hundred FI hoods for the FC are out there right now. Haven't heard of any sagging. Could it be that this does not apply to their manufacturering process? Might be, since you have NO idea what their process is, right? Right. Maybe it's just a freak occurance in nature that happened over 100 times? Gee wizz I can't imagine what is going on. Maybe after the gazillion years that FI has been doing this yields more experience than the books you have experienced?

Of course NONE of this is really relevant here...since these hoods we are talking about are going to be FIBERGLASS. But whatever, I like to argue.

If you are reffering to me being rude, yeah I get rude when someone argues a manufacturer process with me when I am the seller, not the maker. That's like telling the 7-11 owner that Snickers should be made this way or that way. Think about it! Fiber Images number is 661-274-9500. Give them a ring and argue with them. Talk to Albert, who is the co-owner, and makes 90% of the products there.

Anyone can talk **** about how someone else's stuff sucks for this reason or another, yet we don't see anything product related coming from up there at your place do we? People wonder why no one even trys to make things for the FC...I give you exhibit A - doridori-rx7

Well, I for one am glad that some people are starting to make more stuff for the FC. And I have no problems spending the money to get these products. So lets all try to keep this thread on topic.

Dave, sorry to hear that things have been hectic at the shop as of late. Just drop in when you get a chance and update us as things start to happen. Thanks in advance bro.

We have made a few CF things and I can tell you that a hood will never be one of them. To do a proper hoof you are talking about 3 different pieces bonded together. No thanks it would take forever to get right. I have not had time to do a whole lot of FC stuff in the last couple of months because I have started to focus all my spare time into real estate. In the winter months I will be back at it though.

Thanks BoostedRex. I will still come and update as I can.

Bukwild, those sills you guys are making look really good. I hope to see more cool stuff! The more selection the better is the way I see it.

BTW, I did end up modifying my hood, and nose to allow more airflow, you can only see the trailing edge in the photos, (double click each one to enlarge), but the leading edge follows the vent contours, and leaves~1" of material all around. The modified hood pics are the on track pics at the bottom. Carl

Dave,

I know that things are hectic right now with 7stock, but I thought I'd bump the thread back up to see if there was any news.

And off topic, kick Reese in the *** while he's out there with you. Tell him it's from his little brother.

I actually have the scoop now, so I just have to source another N/A hood when we finish moving into the new shop and start the fitment. I will post a pic of it by the end of the weekend so everyone knows what and where I'm headed.

Update...Reese was just kicked

Hey, sometimes its the other way around. I had cash in hand waiting for a final pic froma guy on here(name withheld) who was supposed to be making a reverse cowl hood. After 3 months with a willing deposite he just stopped ansering emails and never appeared on aim. I bet he was talking **** all along.

JDM parts are made for JDM people with big JDM bank accounts that can buy pretty JDM parts.....In japan the money is spent differently......if your into cars you spend it on your car and thats it.....

Ok, any updates or pictures yet Dave? I wanted to give you a few days after Sevenstock to let things get back to normal. Hoping that you'll have some pictures of a rough prototype or something to post up.

Ok, I haven't heard anything in quite some time. I'm hoping that you will have some updates for us Dave. I also sent you an email in case you haven't been on the forum in a while.
