Exactly, really sucks about your exhaust too.... Most people that end up spending time/money on our fellow lads end up losing out.

I know what you guys are talking about when it comes to people backing out on a deal. I had 3 people lined up to buy my motor at different times. All of them saw it and said "I'll take it." but when it was time to get the money and give up the engine all 3 of them flaked out on me. And all 3 of them were forum members here. That's why I'm hoping people in this thread won't do that. I guess the best we can do is to wait and see.

First things first...

It isn't a knock off of anything. That is why we are making one from scratch. The vent(s) that we will put in it will resemble the Panspeed hood, but not be a copy of it. It will be our own, unique hood. If someone wants a panspeed hood, buy one. If people like ours once it is done, buy it.

I have some vents coming to the shop in the next week or so to look at, give feedback to the maker and we will go from there. I am going to make these one way or another, just like I did the other CF hoods for the FC. If no one wants them, then mine will just be more unique

Once I have started fitting the scoop(s) after I figure out which ones look the best, and will be the most functional then I will get some pics up. I don't expect to have people lined up to hand over cash without even a single picture of anything. We are just interested in gauging interest in an affordable, reverse vent hood (should they like the design of course)

They will start off being made out of fiberglass. When CF becomes a bit more easy to get in 60" rolls, then we will look at what it will cost to do CF ones. That will be later though.

More info to come as I have it...

Dave, I'm sure you'll come up with something that looks great and is functional as well!
Looking forward to seeing the finished product! I have been extremely happy with the CF pieces I have purchased from you so far!

That hood is alittle ricey for me, if it just had one opening in the middle it would be fine, and the opening should be placed alittle farther up. I also like the old RE hood, with all the little vents, wish i had a pic to show, it was on the RE race FC. I think that in CF would be kinda sexy

why everyone hell bent on CF this or CF that??? make a nice, inexpensive FG VENTED hood (HELL MAKE AN ALUMINUM ONE!!!) and i'll be happy......the whole CF fad is gay......unless you are building a RACE car and are trying to loose all the weight you can AFTER you completely gutted it.......

i'd disagree......the center vents are ugly as sin.......but I would not mind having small vents on the sides like that one.......different strokes for different folks i guess.

Dave,

Thanks for posting on here and clearing up the mistakes I made in posting. Now at least everyone knows that this is a serious thing that WILL happen. And if you don't have any experience with Dave then let me tell you that you WILL NOT find someone who makes parts this good for this good of a price. And from my dealings, his customer service is among the best in the U.S.!! And granted it is just my personal opinion, but I agree with Madrx7racer. To me a CF hood would be after I've gutted every ounce of weight out of the car that I possibly could. Until that point an FG hood will be perfect.

CF doesnt need to be painted, doesnt dent, and is alittle lighter than aluminum.

If you get one in FG expect to add money on top of the price of the hood to paint it or maintaining the paint, worry about cracking it if you drop it too hard or pressing on it to lock it shut, worrying about people leaning on it and cracking etc...

That's my thought anyway.

i would just like if someone made something that kinda looked stock or at least kept an FC tradition and not look like you cut holes in the stock hood framing. i would like if someone could make an off centered hood vent in the fashion of the stock hood. ill draw somehting up later. thx

I'm in for the CF one. Boosted knows I'll do whatever it takes to get one (even if I have to borrow money from my parents :P) Dave, I'm the guy that was buggin the crap out of you on the fc3s forum about getting a group buy going....I just couldn't find anyone with a hood to copy ;[ glad to see you're going to make the reverse vent hood. 100% sure I'm in for the cf one...maybe fiberglass if I get really impatient...but I really want the cf one.

hmm i like that hood. maybe a less aggressive style. No middle flare and if it didnt swoop back as far. But i really do like that hood, id be intrested to see what it looks like on a more normal body FC,

For whoever mentioned wanting an off-center hood vent then check out the Knightsports hood.

I'll take the hood that Dave is making. I trust the quality and the price will be great. And the FG hood will be perfect for me. Like I said, my car is more built for being on the track so perfect paint without scratches isn't a concern of mine.
