New vented hood from SpeedMachine Performance
I also wanted to gauge interest in a Panspeed style vented hood. It's not an exact copy because there is more than one vent in the hood. It's looking like $500 to $600 for the hood in fiberglass and they would be ready for sale around November. Dave Gibson is the guy making them so you already know what kind of quality will be involved with this one.

Well.... Wrongway... I aint got 1000 bucks to drop on a panspeed hood either....
If you make a product that to godaweful expensive, nobodys gonna buy it...... Pretty much why you don't see to many great products for our cars... nobody wants to drop 1/3 of the book value of their car into a new hood!!!!!!
For 5-600, I'm In, if its like their other hoods and bolts right up.

why cant somebody make a nice vented hood that looks as close to stock as possible... without having a bunch of vents, just one big reverse hood scoop like in the same place the stock TMIC scoop is (but centered)
i need a vented hood BADLY and i'll pay 500 bucks for one, but i'll tell you right now i'm not going to put some crazily agressive vented gawdy hood on my otherwise stock looking s5 TII.
edit: i like the one pictured above, anybody have more pictures of those?

Yes, the hood that Funkspectrum posted up is the hood that Dave is modeling his off of. And it won't be a gawdy F&F looking hood either. If it was I wouldn't be interested. We were originally going to send RX-Heven's hood down to Dave to have it replicated, but things fell through so now Dave is starting off with a stock N/A hood and going from there. Glad to see that there is some interest. There won't be any pictures of the hood that Dave is building for a while since he just started working on it. But as soon as I get them I will post them on here.

Those hoods in Japan sell around $1,000 if not more!

ZoomZoom2ndgen and RETed, does that mean that you guys are in for a hood? Pending pictures and a final price of course. But I'm trying to keep Dave up to date on who would buy one. The more people that will buy the first batch the better the prices will be for all of us.
And about the original Panspeed hood... I priced it out and it came to $1400 shipped to Cali. So if Dave can make one that's just as good (which I have NO doubts he can) for $500-$600 then I'd be an IDIOT to not get one. Just my .02

The hoods aren't supposed to be finished for a couple of months so you'll have plenty of time to save up the money. I just need to know that you will be in for sure pending pictures and a final price.

Listen to the warnings about the FC market. Product development is like sitting in a dark room with food laying about. All the roaches will come out and nibble a little bit but once someone turns on the light they all scatter. FC owners act similarly when a price is revealed, they all go and hide.

Even if it is a great price

Comitatus, Dave said he was going to make carbon versions of the hood if the market would be there. He just wants to make it in fiberglass first to see how many he will sell before dumping the money into a carbon version.

Ok, thanks! Makes sense to me. I know Dave makes a good product...and I've been looking for a Carbon Vented hood for a while now. I pretty much have everything else in place or on-order, so this would be icing on the cake for me.
This is definitely true, but there are some of us (few and far between) who will pay the money for a good product because of the projects we have going...
I don't even want to count up the receipts for the parts that I've purchased in the past 2 months...
